Still, in Ocean County there is no action against the rising tide of Anti-Semitism that continues to breed on social media and in political circles in Jackson.

Without addressing the problem of the underlying hate which drives people like Todd Porter and Clara Glory or the immediate condemnation of groups, our leadership is complicit in any attacks that G-d forbid, might happen in Ocean County in the future.

Half-hearted apologies issued in order to appease the growing call-to-action to combat anti-Semitism is not enough. Many have said, “It’s only a matter of time before this happens in our own community.” Well, it has.

A few months ago, two Jewish men were attacked and nearly run over by a group of kids, who no doubt have been tainted by the words they read on the internet and the words spoken by others in their community. The only difference is, in that attack, the attackers missed their targets.

I would like to call on Attorney General Gurbir Grewal, Chiefs of Police Mitch Little and Matthew Kunz, Mayors Michael Reina and Mo Hill, our Ocean County Freeholders, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Yes, even OC GOP Chairman Frank Holman, whose party in Jackson breeds and fosters this hate, to come together with the local news media to come up with a real solution to the problem.

Press releases and statements from underlings will not stop the hate and will not prevent the next mass attack against the Jewish community. Zero-Tolerance is the answer. Zero tolerance from the GOP establishment that anti-semitism within their ranks will be dealt with SWIFTLY and not brushed under the carpet. Zero-tolerance against those who plan or commit bias and hate crimes against ANY religion.

Online Facebook groups that peddle fear and misinformation online should be shut down immediately. An intelligent conversation about the future of our county needs to take place before it’s too late.

It is only a matter of time before this happens here, why are we waiting until it does?
