Good Morning, fellow TLS Readers,
This isn’t the usual kind of letter you’d expect to find here, and if you’re reading it, I’m deeply grateful to TLS for giving me this opportunity.
For many years, it’s been an absolute dream of mine to meet President Trump. I’ve made some efforts to make it happen, though not extensively, and perhaps that’s part of the concept of Hishtadlus. Meeting President Trump is a bucket-list goal I hope to achieve one day, and each morning, I wake up with the hope that today might be that day. He is, after all, a true man of the people, often more accessible than many local politicians.
Like many Americans, I deeply appreciate what President Trump has done — and continues to do — for this great nation. His God-given strength, resilience, and fortitude in the face of endless challenges and obstacles are truly remarkable. It’s hard to put into words the admiration I feel for someone who stands so firmly for what he knows is right despite the daily onslaught he faces.
I’m sure there are others reading this who share a similar dream. I sincerely hope we all get the chance to realize it. And for those who may have the ability to help facilitate this meeting, you can’t imagine how profoundly grateful I’d be.

Why do you fantasize about meeting Trump? To shake his hand? To tell him you love him? Look, he is a blessing from Hashem, but chill about the meeting. There are more important things in life.

The idol worship here is astonishing. It’s one thing to vote for the guy, but everyone knows he is morally bankrupt as a human being. Is there no shame in all this gloating?

Don’t knock someone’s dream even if it’s not the loftiest madreiga. Noone should ever squash their hopes and dreams, and then they will lead to loftier dreams. Someone who dreams of meeting Trump, if he follows that for a while without being made to feel ashamed or guilty, will eventually find themselves dreaming to connect to gedolim and to Hashem!!

A person once asked R shteinman if a questionable business practice was mutar, R shteinman replied “your patur” the man was confused and repeated his question whether it was mutar or not, R shteinman explained, you have a chiyuv to do hishtadlus but if your hishtadlus would be a questionable practice your patur from doing hishtadlus.
