Letter from Jackson Police Chief Matt Kunz

To our Jackson Township residents,

Following the recent storm/tornado event, we share the relief with our neighbors and friends that no injuries were sustained, which makes the work of cleanup much more palatable.

Our thanks go out to all those professionals and volunteers that have pitched in and provided assistance to the Township and our neighbors, as their selflessness has not gone unnoticed.

The utility workers and support crews that responded, including JCP&L, Verizon, Optimum, several sub-contractors for each of those vendors, in addition to numerous tree services and unnamed others, helped to restore services and reopen the many impacted roadways. Our own first responders, being Police, OC Sheriffs, Jackson EMS, Jackson Fire Companies, OEM and DPW performed particularly admirably, especially as they were in the field as the hazardous storm unleashed its wrath on the Township. The contributions of Chaverim and Ocean County Road Dept. were also invaluable to storm response and damage mitigation.

While the cleanup continues, we once again thank everyone that assisted, and ask the patience of those still affected, as regrettably a few residents remain without utilities. As your police department, we are quite proud of the community collaboration, and realization that Jackson Township remains a great place to live and work.

Matthew D. Kunz
Chief of Police
Jackson Township Police Department
