Letter: Father Thanks TLS Readers for Finding “Best Situation Possible” for His Son

A few weeks ago I wrote a letter into the Scoop asking for help with a pressing matter. Our now ten month old son has faced weight gain challenges and is fed through an NG (nasogastric) tube. This has BH really helped him, and he is now doing very well. Apart from this minor inconvenience, he is a normal baby just like any other his age, both behaviorally and developmentally.

With the new school year beginning and my wife starting a new job, nearly every Morah and daycare we approached at the time turned us away, not out of unwillingness to care for our child, but out of fear and misunderstanding of what the NG tube really involves.

Not really knowing where to turn, we decided to write a letter to the Scoop, in hopes that maybe our story would reach others who have been in similar predicaments and might have some advice for us. Baruch Hashem, we received replies from many kind-hearted people who had different good ideas.

One of these responses recommended a certain medical daycare that would even take our son’s insurance. It is called Manchester Pediatric Medical Daycare. We looked into it and went down to check out the place. We were thrilled with option! They even have daily transportation between the daycare and our home and PT, OT and Speech etc. on site.

After asking around and getting very good positive feedback we decided to send our son there. It did take about two weeks for the insurance to approve his case, but once that happened we began sending him right away.

This turned out to be the best situation possible and thanks to the Lakewood Scoop and its wonderful readership, our son has been getting the best quality care at no cost to ourselves!

Special shout out to the person who recommended us to write into the Scoop. You know who you are and all you have done for us. Thank you!

We feel that it would be a great to’eles to publicize that this option exists as it really helped us in a bind, and there have to be many other families in our situation that this information has the potential to really help.

Anyone who would like more details can reach out to me through the Scoop and we will happily try to help you as much as we can.

A Grateful Lakewood Father

What a shame you have to send him to a no Jewish place, cuz the special children’s center would have taken him, which means he gets nothing from yiddiskeit , I would ask daas Torah!!;Someone knowledgeable with medical too ( rebbi Moshe rottberg from toms river)

Thank you for info

The father clearly wrote that this option is covered by his child’s insurance. I’m sure the Center is great, but that may not have been an affordable option for them.
Its important that parents know that this option exists and they can make the best choice that works for their family.

Why do you assume that this was a decision made without consideration and thought? Did you even read the letter?

Are you offering to sponsor them to send their child to the special children’s center daycare, which costs a lot unlike the place they found?

Please think before posting something that is hurtful and silly for no reason

I’m sure you asked “daas Torah!!” before you sent out this post. Also, it’s obvious that you are an immature bored teenager from your “geshmak” pen name “I was once in similar shoes” along with your ridiculous post. But how about you find something better to do with your time then say something insensitive for your own entertainment about a family who’s going through a challenge that Iy’h you should never have to deal with. I hope Hashem doesn’t judge for you thoughtless immaturity. PS. When you do grow up, I would advise you to reach out to the family for mechila.

Who did you ask for “daas Torah!!” before you sent out this post?

Sometimes you can find a warm morah that can have your baby with proper support for a few hours, like this your child will have proper rolemodels from friends to reach milestones( Goldy osina did it for my daughter about 15 years ago biggest life savior)
