Letter: Beautiful

Dear Editor. I want to share with your readers a beautiful incident that happened this morning.

My son wears cochlear implants in both ears. For those readers who may not know, a cochlear implant is not a hearing aid, rather, it is a device that is attached by magnet to an internal, implanted component. He is completely unable to hear without them. They are approximately $8,000 per ear, and cannot be insured for the first five years.

This morning, he got into a little play fight with a seatmate on his bus and his implant fell off. He couldn’t find it, and called me when he got to school. I called Jay’s Bus Company who got right in touch with the driver, who was already on her next run – Westgate to Bais Tova.

A short while later, Margarita from Jay’s Bus Company called me back to say it was B”H found. I told them I would come pick the cochlear implant up so it would be easier for the driver, however the driver said she would be passing my house and offered to bring it to me.

When she came by my house, she told me the Bais Tova girls didn’t get off the bus, insisting they wouldn’t stop looking until they found it.

  1. That is a Beautiful and heartwarming story!

To the bus driver and all those at Jays who were involved- i am personally thanking you as well, as my son is hearing impaired and wears hearing aids. While they are not as expensive as cochlear implants, i know the stress of losing them and having to search for them and the fears that come along with it.
Your actions were kindness in it’s truest form!
    Thank you!!
and to the Bais Tova girls- mi ki’amcha yisroel!

  2. Miss Margarita is the Best !!
Bais Tova Rocks. And so does their Hall, Ne’emas HaChaim, btw.
    It’s a wonderful school.
As far as getting in, that’s gonna be a slight problem. They already have 4 parallels for each class and are bursting at the seams.

  3. To the best students on the bus!! we are proud of you!! To the best bus driver Angela, shes our favorite always so nice and considerate a role model for other drivers!!!
