To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to bring to your attention an ongoing issue we have been experiencing with our mail delivery person.
On multiple occasions, residents on our block have come to their mailboxes to find the mail either hanging out or blown away and water damaged on the ground.
After this happened numerous times, neighbors checked their cameras and confirmed that the delivery person was leaving the box open after sticking the mail inside.
I understand that mistakes can happen, but this seems to be a consistent problem that needs to be addressed. The mail that had been lost contains important documents, and it is causing me and my neighbors inconvenience and additional expenses to request replacements of documents.
I would appreciate it if the necessary measures could be taken to ensure that proper protocol is followed in the future and that my mail is delivered securely.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
A Lakewood Resident
TLS welcomes your letters by submitting them to [email protected]
Posting this on TLS is not going to get this addressed by the usps. I doubt the usps or the mail carrier is reading TLS. Call the post office at 732-363- 9444, or else the usps at 1-800-ask-usps (800-275-8777). If you look online I believe there also are ways to submit complaints online.
While a complain can be left online as well, rest assured USPS reads TLS.
After posting an article about the USPS the other week, they immediately reached out to us to rectify the issue.
Post master general they will do a investigation on the post office they have always worked for me you can send them email go to state site and they will direct you or type in post master general good luck 👍
This seems like an oversight for that specific mail person. Did you try to speak with them directly? why wouldnt you mention it if you did??
Good to know! My mistake then
You’re lucky as you’re at least receiving your mail. I don’t get my mail on average three days a week, and my box is never blocked. No one to talk too.
Fictitious sources are now reporting that USPS officials have tweeted a “Thank You” message to the letter writer for contacting them via TLS, and not “via the atrocious US Mail service”.
“We would like to thank you for reaching out to us via TLS, and not via the atrocious USPS,” USPS officials tweeted to the letter writer on Sunday. “As you are well aware, quite often the mail that is delivered to our customers, and to us, gets blown away or gets damaged, before any of us even has a chance to read it.”
“Luckily for you,” the USPS officials tweeted, “you contacted us via TLS, so we were able to read your letter online.”
“What’s more,” the tweet went on to say, “you posted your letter to us just in the nick of time, because our internet provider is cutting off our internet service later today, due to months of unpaid bills, and we wouldn’t have seen your letter if you had posted it online later in the day.”
“Anyway,” the tweet went on to say, “rest assured, that as soon as we fix the problems you are having with the mail, we’ll tweet you, or we’ll contact you via TLS to notify you that we’ve fixed the problem by shutting down our in-person mail service in Lakewood, and by forwarding all Lakewood mail to our customers online via TLS and Twitter posts or via Email.”
“Thank you for your patience.
“Sincerely yours,
Your Friends from the USPS.”
P.S. – We at USPS are simply blown away by all the mail that arrives in Lakewood! It’s incredible!
Once again Asinine takes the trophy, Goose is incredibly inspired by the humorousity of Asinine and in all honesty would like to go out for coffee, Asinine if you are reading this please text Goose at (moderated).
Gossage out!
If I recall correctly, TLS recently got a lot of antisemitic comments on Facebook after it posted a recent “Coffee with Cops” post. Now, I am not a cop, and I’m pretty sure you’re not a cop either, but I’m not sure what triggered the antisemitic comments. Was it the Jews conversing with the cops? Or was it just the Jews conversing? Or was it the jewish coffee? Or perhaps it was the combination of cops, jews and coffee – and bagels, and maybe lox too; oy, vey! I don’t know. But I think we’re all a lot safer drinking coffee alone, away from the gaze of the antisemites. I mean, a Jew is entitled to have a cup of coffee alone, right? Especially if the coffee is a non-jewish brand – [with a hechsher, of course].
But let’s be honest, Goose, your coffee will taste a lot better to you without my asinine company; I’m pretty sure of that. Just make sure to add the right amount of sugar and milk, and you’re good to go.
When was the last time the Lakewood USPS answered the phone ? I try calling all the time with pickup or other issues and they haven’t answered the phone in a couple of years..
Once in a while they do respond to complaints at the main center but it’s a waste of time they are full of excuses – they are short staff so they are stuck with incompetent workers etc.. the rotator in my neighborhood never scans the bulk scan sheet like their supposed to – he comes around really mad doesn’t look at you etc. He angrily chucks the packages into his truck.
It happens in our development for who knows how long, if a car blocks the mailbox the mailman will not close the mailbox and mail gets lost or wet
Maybe we should tip our mailman more often or atleast atleast say thank you when he passes by , maybe things like this can be avoided
Maybe people should stop thinking about ME MYSELF and I and stop blocking the mailbox.
In your work place, if someone gets in your way and makes your job harder, probably you are fuming. The mailman is a human being, he also has feelings.
Dear Chaim,
My comment was meant for the other guy.
Tips are definitely meaningful but in no way does a lack of tips excuse any of these mail delivery practices. Delivering the mail properly and closing the mailbox is not above and beyond, it’s basic job requirement per their chosen *and paid* work assignment. Malpractice is excusable, and we the consumer, are to be answered to.
And yes, malpractice is appropriately used in this context, it is not an exclusive medical term.
Indeed it is within our rights to request usps provide service, good mailman, and orderly delivery.
