Dear Editor,
I wanted to bring attention to an ongoing issue with AT&T service in parts of Lakewood, particularly in a few specific buildings. Over the past week and a half to two weeks, I’ve noticed a complete lack of data service when inside these buildings—where there used to be perfectly fine reception. It’s frustrating to suddenly have no connection at all when other service providers are working just fine in the same areas.
What’s even more troubling is that AT&T doesn’t seem to be offering any solutions. I’ve reached out to them, but so far, no real help has been provided.
I’m curious if other readers have been experiencing the same problem. Is this happening in other parts of Lakewood as well? Please share your thoughts and any suggestions in the comments—especially if you’ve found a way to fix or work around this issue. If enough of us are having trouble, maybe we can push AT&T for a resolution together.
Thank you

I have the same issue
Yes same here!! Realize service has changed drastically in recent weeks
Yes i reached out to at&t and it seems like they are slowly upgrading their towers all around town
This usually takes approximately 4 weeks per tower
During this time signals are lowered on those and surrounding towers for the safety of the workers
Once the upgrades are completed towers are returned to their regular strength and service resumes as normal
This has been happening in numerous areas in lakewood and surrounding townships for the last few months
A possible solution if you have an iPhone is to switch the service to lte only as it seems like these upgrades are only affecting the 5g signal
Unfortunately not much to do if you have an android device as they force the higher 5g signal
I am the original letter writer.
I tried this and it worked.
Thank you!!
I used to have good service in my house in westgate, now i have barely any
AT&T up until five weeks ago was the best service in this area, better than Verizon and T-Mobile. Matter of fact, I switched from T-Mobile/Sprint to AT&T Because of the phenomenal service, but lately I can be on the phone or trying to use the Internet and for about 2 miles radius I will not have any service whatsoever. The interesting part about it, is that it’s happening in places where I’ve always had service in the past. It’s extremely frustrating. what is happening here?
Same issue here not only in office building but at work definitely terrible. I think it may be because Verizon became so bad that many many have switched over to att and now there’s just too much on the network. Also possible that Verizon started sharing towers with them or them with Verizon. I have similar junk service now to when I was with Verizon.
if u want to have great service all the time, you’ll have to allow some new towers built!
I have the same issue, I have been calling AT&T every day. I get a different story when it will be fixed.
I have the same issue
I used to have service in my school, but now I barely have service in school to do my news chat.😔
I had the same exact issue for the past week and a half
Every tower can only handle a specific number of calls before it stops working for new callers. So as people left verizon and went to ATT ,now ATT has the same congestion issue as Verizon . Lakewood growth is so huge that there is a need for 10 new towers. Yet everybody fights them at the planning board so service will always stay terrible .
I am having the same issue. Sometime the retention department can assist with a bit more resources.
It’s Hizbula retaliating
According to someone I spoke to at the Fig phone company, AT&T recently made changes to their system and it’s affecting most flip/kosher phones. So far they don’t seem willing to help with the issues.
I switched to T-mobile. (fig sim)
T mobile is terrible around BMG 9th and Clifton for a 2-3 block radius. Dropped and choppy calls. Used to be fine. Is there some sort of cell jammer or something? Reception is fine everywhere but right around those 2 or 3 blocks…
Yes, my calls keep dropping and bad reception throughout Lakewood.
I have an iPhone and service definitely got worse last few weeks
I just want to apologise to everyone for the lousy AT&T service. When I first moved to Lakewood I had a Sprint account. I missed more calls than I received. I realised it was time to switch. I jumped to Verizon and we all know how that worked out so I just recently switched to AT&T. Obviously, it’s been me causing all this trouble all along. Sorry.
Guess what? Verizon users have been having severely poor service as well. It seems during peak times they just can’t handle it. In a perfectly normal area near the center of Lakewood, they simultaneously dropped multiple calls and data connections this past Friday and service was atrocious all day. This is happening more frequently for sure. They are probably sharing equipment.
I’ve had a few different services. Verizon hands down works the best in Lakewood.
I have AT&T and had a similar issue where I live service was terrible for a few weeks but then actually got much better seems like lack of service is due to some type of upgrade being done to all the new towers AT&T just put up all around Lakewood
AT&T Service Outages Prevent Customer From Posting Comments About The AT&T Outages
An AT&T customer, who’s desperately been trying to respond to a question posted on TLS as to whether AT&T customers in Lakewood have recently been experiencing service outages, was unable to respond to the question due to non-stop outages that are preventing him from posting his response online.
“I am so upset right now,” he told ‘Wireless Magazine’ in a text message interview on Thursday, “because I desperately wanted to reassure the individual who posted that question on TLS that he/she is not the only one who’s been experi………. exper……………….”
Before the AT&T customer could finish communicating his message to the tech Magazine, his phone went dead, leaving him unable to complete his message.”
When Wireless Magazine reached out to AT&T on Thursday to discuss the recent outages, AT&T responded to the Magazine via a voicemail message saying that, “AT&T is truly sorry about the recent outages and the inconveniences that this is causing to many of our customers. However, we would like to reassure all of our customers that we are….that we are…we are….are…are…are… Hello?! Can you hear me?! Oy, this is ridiculous!!!……….”
First they came for Hamas but I did not speak up because I am not a member of Hamas.
Then they came for Hezbollah but I did not speak up because I am not a member of Hezbollah.
Then they came for Neturei Karta but I did not speak up because I am not a member of Neturei Karta.
Then they came for the Anti-Zionists in Lakewood but there was no one left to speak up for me.
