Is there anyone else having issues with their unemployment claims?
With over a year since the start of this pandemic, I have not been paid because there was an issue with my unemployment claim and there has been no one available to help me resolve this. The phone calls do not get answered during the week, the few times I was able to reach someone only on a Sunday morning, they were of no help to me. They told me a representative will call me back, or they will put in a form to escalate my claim. But none of the above has happened. To date, I still have not received any money.
I have reached out to Congressman Chris Smith and he is trying to work on the case as well. He has been really helpful and responsive, but Gov. Murphy has put a limit and restriction on how many cases he can help with a week. The number is pathetic, just a mere 13 cases a week! He said he has over 700 cases that he is trying to resolve. This will take over a year for them to even look at these cases. This is crazy.
Is there anyone that had issues with their claim and had it resolved?
If anyone has any leads please advise! I have a family to support and have not been paid.

I also have not been paid as I filled out something wrong on my initial application. I did have an appeal with a judge, who decided “that I chose to leave my job.” So I sympathize with you, but have not received any help. I did hire a lawyer, but have not heard back from her yet.

You are not alone. I have been trying for months to receive my retroactive benefits for my wife and for regular benefits for myself, I made a mistake on one question that froze my account and have not been able to get any answers! So frustrating. I have gotten the same response from Chris smiths office. Hope this can be resolved soon

Yes, you are not the only one… still waiting to resolve claims from March 2020! Impossible to get through to humans, when you do they promise emails that never materialize…Thankfully back at work now, but would be nice to get what I am owed…

I did receive money till recently received a letter saying im not eligible & need to pay everything back because i self quarantined & its considered available for work
If you self quarantine (and left work voluntarily) you are not eligible. You need verification from a health provider as to why you are in quarantine. If you are eligible for work and are actively seeking employment, you need proof from recruiters, resume submissions, interview results completely documented. If you made a mistake on your application, you will be put at the end of the claim application queue. Good luck.
I left my job for a COVID related reason. My claim was pending for months, but was recently approved and I was able to certify the weekly benefits retroactively. The key is to call and call. If a recording starts “welcome to NJ…”, hang up and call again, until your hear “During the month of January….”. Then press 2 to speak with a rep.
Terrible! We have been running after them for months and months for retroactive payment from March 2020! I think something must be done on a larger scale! It is corruption!! (In NY everyone had gotten their retroactive payments basically right away – someone always answers at the Unemployment office (sometimes after a long wait..) and resolves things etc..) I think in New Jersey it is simply a way out of having to pay! I think many people think they are the only ones ( Yiden a tleast have a network and we know from each other that so many people are having problems, but I imagine other people probably just think it is them and that they have a problem and don’t realize what is going on throughout New Jersey!. It is simply fraud!!! Something must be done. (Also I need the money urgently but there is just nobody to talk to..)
Based on my research that is not true and you are meant to receive unemployment. They just keep looking for excuses to take away from people the money that is rightfully theirs!!
Yes. I got through to the call center 4 times in my 40 times trying. After opening up a case with the Indian representative, I finally got a call back from the department of labor. However, they said that my claim was filed under ‘retroactive pay’ instead of ‘back pay’. They told me that they need to resubmit the claim and I should hear back form them in 2-4 months.
There are so many people who are taking advantage of the system there are some people who really need unemployment money but most of them have jobs that they can go back to but they prefer not to to go back. Their old bosses would love for them to come back to work their stores or businesses are starting to get busy and they’re struggling to find people that are willing to work
Waiting for retroactive pay for over a year now!
I have not recieved any funds since November 8th I’ve had a large balance and it’s been saying not payable my 12yr old is still sad because Christmas came and gone and as a parent I’m feeling horrible and its depressing to keep telling my daughter as soon as I can I will give her Christmas. My car insurance is canceled I cant drive my car I have tickets I cant pay soon to have license revoked. Not able to pay rent for months eviction creeping up. How do you look at your child totally letting her down as her mother and every time I get someone they tell me 6-8 weeks for a resolution even if it’s been 4-5 weeks already they tell you the same thing but no one can seemed to tell me why it’s not payable I’m so lost right now I want to just crawl under a rock and well you all know the rest.
I’m in the same boat. My claim was processed and then payments stopped because funds were exhausted (whatever that means!! ) There’s no way that’s true since I’ve worked 20+ yes and definitely entitled to benefits for more than three months!! Been trying to reach a human for almost 9 months but to no avail!!! I’m desperately trying to keep my family afloat but with zero income it’s becoming near impossible! Any leads to reaching someone in unemployment office would be greatly Appreciated!!
Call 732-761-2020 OR 732-761-2021 FIRST THING IN THE MORNING WHEN THEY OPEN SO YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET THROUGH TO SOMEBODY OTHERWISE IT’S VERY HARD TO GET THROUGH.

Same happened to us. We called (100s of times) and got through twice. Both times they said someone will call back. The first time (we were getting the minimum for self-employed) someone called back and said that the dates that I claimed doesn’t make sense so he’s changing it so I can get retroactive funds. That’s the day all funds stopped. Still waiting for a call back from the 2nd call… where is LRRC? Shouldn’t they represent us?
Why is NJ holding onto the $600 a week of PUA? Isn’t it federal funds? NY gave the entire amount to all who applied.
It’s the same here in Colorado too. I’m owed payment for back pay from April 5 to June 27 which is about 10K. I’ve been told so many different things on when to expect it none of which have ever happened. When we switched over to the new programming system my account was switched from active start date of June 30 back to April 5 which is the date my back pay should be paid from. Yet they have done that but never gave me those weeks to certify on & have not yet paid me for them either. Takes forever to get through to call center. Then when you get through they say they will look into & sorry for the inconvenience & just to be patient. Well easy for them to say this since they aren’t the ones who are owed 10K which if it was them they want their money asap yet they have 1,000’s of people here still waiting for months of payments who we are all just getting the run around as they keep avoid answering why we don’t have our money. I’ve tried reaching out to everyone possible with either no reply. With having only one person reply back who seemed to care & appeared to start working on my case. Which then kept being told was having issues getting my weeks to pull up & they should appear in phase 1. They never did them was told phase 2 they never did now I don’t even get a reply back from them at all. It’s ridiculous how they seem to be playing with peoples money they are owed & causing so much stress amongst many other things in their lives from losing place to live falling seriously behind on so many bills. Something needs to be done about this asap as it’s getting so out of hand as we are owed money that they have yet they aren’t paying it to us.
Same! Incredibly frustrating! I made a mistake on my certification 13 weeks ago and haven’t been able to claim since. I’ve gotten through a few times but they keep saying I need to wait for someone to look at it.
