Letter: A Deeply Disturbing Discovery

Dear TLS,

It has come to my attention that one of the local bussing companies has assigned at least one of our high school girls routes to an individual causing great distress and confusion among the children.

This individual is dressing as the opposite gender and even professing to be of the opposite gender. I understand that in this day and age our society has degraded to a very low level, but as a parent I feel both unsafe and coerced by this driver working around our holy pure daughters.

Although we cannot be completely insulated from these lifestyles and choices, I do not feel it is in the best interest of our most venerable and impressionable daughters to be in daily unsupervised proximity of such an individual, nor do I feel it is safe or benign.

We have a sacred duty and an obligation to object to individuals such as this from being in contact with our children, and I implore other parents to make inquiries and see what can be done to protect our children from danger, both physically and spiritually. We should not be forced into a position to need to explain this perverse deviance to our daughters and sons.

A concerned parent.

  1. Carpool your daughters! The bus companies are yidden and they don’t care. It’s your achreiyus. The task is daunting, I do it daily for my kids safety.

  2. Legally there is nothing to do about it, since they are protected by anti-discrimination laws. Also, I think you are underestimating high school students. They are all aware of this phenomenon, and instructed by proper authorities about it, and I don’t think they are confused. In general, bus drivers obviously live lifestyles which often involve violations of the Torah and I don’t think this is all that different.

    • there is much that can be done about this. a major yeshiva in Brooklyn was tricked into hiring one of these abominations and paid out a settlement. it’s the definition of pekuach nefesh.

      • In what world is this “the definition of pekuach nefesh?” It may be a serious hashkafa issue, one that hopefully the students are aware of, but that’s true for any outside influences that come with having a non-Jewish or non-religious bus driver. There’s no actual halacha issue here that I am aware of, let alone pekuach nefesh.

        • well, unfortunately i dont think you are correct. I know of a story of one child in a Lakewood development who began down the path of these things. It is literally a mental spiral into self harming oblivion. I think it may be considered Pikuach Nefesh.
I dont know where he picked this up, but children are impressionable …

    • It is illegal to discriminate against an individual for their gender identity. There likely isn’t anything that can be done other than assign the individual to routes for public schools.

  3. What exact physical danger do you mean?? Why does a person that feels the freedom to express themselves pose such a threat to your close-minded views?

  4. I really cannot figure out why all schools don’t have their own private busing. Yes, it costs a pretty penny, but this should be a priority before building multi-million dollar buildings.
If all chassidish schools in town figured it out, so can the others!

  5. There really isn’t anything you, the school, or the bus company can do. If they fire the driver the bus company will face major lawsuits. If they fire the driver under some other pretext they will still face major lawsuits. If they don’t hire the driver to begin without a legitimate reason other than this one they can face major lawsuits. Putting pressure in the bus company wont help because what is pressure compared to a major lawsuit. All the school can do it hire a private bus, which the parents will have to pay for, or arrange carpools. This is the world that we live in, and like it or not, they do not share our views.

    • The bus company doesn’t have to fire the driver thus causing a major lawsuit. They can simply reassign the driver to a non jewish/public school route. Frum kids shouldn’t be exposed to such things. This driver shouldn’t be driving jewish children

    • So you’ll face major lawsuits, since when is that a heter? Anyway it’s quite simple to win the case, it’s not constitutional to discriminate based on gender, just threaten to challenge girls sports which are not constitutional, and they’ll back down.

  6. I would like to bring to the attention that the above statement t, (Bus drivers do not act and behave as frum yidden) I really think this is very disgraceful to say as many of the drivers are Hemisha frum Ehrlich great drivers. I have two of them transporting my kids. and a family member is a bus driver too. Some are real talmedi chachumim just working for their parnassah

  7. My children’s bus driver blasts non jewish music even after the boys told him multiple times to turn it off. There have been many complaints to the school and they said they’ll call the bus company…

    So far nothing has changed.

  8. you voted for Murphy, so how can you complain? he’s the one that brought this into our state! you felt gelt was more important then torah morals, now live with it

  9. When we grew up back in Brooklyn NY, many of the drivers were non frum jews from the soviet union. They often said many inappropriate things and in yiddish too. We also all had bus passes (remember those before metro cards) and took goysih citi buses and trains. Even our rebbeim sat with goyim on the citi bus. We need to stop being so farfrumt about exposure and learn to teach our kids that we are different. It was good enough then for a chashuva magid shuir to take the city bus and for us boys then we can survive a goysiha bus driver too. Be frum but not a “frumak”

  10. The world is getting crazier and crazier so just like someone else mentioned that is why I drive my kids to and from school everyday I make it work

  11. Instead of the state paying for outsiders bussing our kids, they should give all that money to the schools to hire their own bus drivers. Parents and schools should have their own choice on who to drivethe kids. Maybe then the buses would have better routes and schedules also. The people we vote for should putrsue this issue.

  12. Heaven forbid, that we would make a false accusation against someone. Being a moser has to be as bad as wearing kli gever.

We see people dressing inappropriately on the street every day. No one thinks that a bus driver should be a role model. Aside from the chilul hashem when the falsness of the accusations become known.

  13. my son told me the busdriver gave the kids his phone and told them to choose something from youtube to listen to. u can call the bus company all u want. colossal waste of time. pray ppl. all i can say.

  14. Judge Rules Biological Male Bus Driver, Who Identifies As a Female, Can Not Be Forced To Drive Male School Children to School
A US District Court judge issued a ruling on Tuesday prohibiting a NJ-based bus company from forcing a biological male, who identifies as a female, to transport male children to school.
“As one who identifies as a female, I do not feel comfortable driving members of the opposite gender to school,” the bus driver, who’s birth-assigned name is Rick Genderman, but who’s current name is Beatrice Genderfroy, told reporters on Tuesday. “The judge’s ruling today will allow me to adhere to my moral principals, and to exclusively transport only members of my current gender – namely, female passengers – to school, which is a real game changer for me that will allow me to keep my job while adhering to my moral principles.”
The judge also ruled that, from here on, the bus company will be required to supply Ms. Genderfroy with an ample supply of female (bus driver) uniforms, and an equisite bouquet of roses on weekends.”

  15. When we grew up in Brooklyn we had bus drivers from the Soviet Union for private school and non Jews for the free public Lenora buses. We also had bus passes and took the city bus. Not only that but some choshiva rebbeim took the city bus too. Yes this was with goyim not so tznuis. Let’s refrain from making everything a big issue

    • That’s why we don’t live in Brooklyn. So let’s not water down our values that we and our parents gave up so much to keep because “they do that in Brooklyn”.

  16. I appreciate the concerns raised about the situation involving the bus driver, and I agree that the well-being of our children must remain a top priority. However, I believe the issue is more complex and should be addressed in a manner that upholds respect and dignity for all individuals involved.

A person experiencing profound challenges with their identity or mental health deserves basic human decency, and labeling them unfairly or harshly does not align with our values. This individual is not necessarily an activist or a representative of broader agendas, but simply a person who, like all of us, is navigating their struggles.

That said, parents also have legitimate concerns and the right to expect certain standards from the institutions that teach and service our children. Schools and bus companies must consider whether the environment they provide is conducive to the moral and emotional development of their students. Decisions about personnel should reflect the values of the community and aim to minimize unnecessary distress or confusion for impressionable children.

  17. its about time you ask yourself what’s more important,(where do we vote) torah values? politicians that uphold strong old fashion family ideas, or alternative lifestyles and woke movements, as long as they throw us a few free lunches. My rebbi reb avigdor miller always taught us, hashem will take care of our money , we need to fight for kavode shomayim and proper decency on this earth. So if you voted for Murphy, you can pat yourself on the shoulder and bring this driver a tool bag with lip stick inside, as you gave him a proud school bus driver seat.

    • I agree 100 percent. The Democrat party is completely amoral. It’s completely void of family and or religious values. No one wants a cross dressing bus driver delivering their children to school – may they be Jewish, Catholic, etc. No child should be exposed to this.

  18. All this talk about how someone dresses ? While i find it a bit unusual and absolutely not what fits into my thoughts as far as the normal way to dress it certainly does no pose a threat to anyone ,there are way more important issues to deal with in todays world that have much more profound effect on the quality of life !

  19. Since when are you so worried about your bus drivers lifestyle practices ?How in the world is this dangerous to your child and where do you get your data that such people commit higher rates of violence? I want to change my kids driver because he wore a Mets cap and I don’t chase vsholom want my children to be anything other than Yankees fans.
