A substantial increase to the Non Profit Security Grant has been introduced this year, a proposal that comes after years of drastic cuts.

Many of our Yeshivos, Bais Yaakovs, and Shuls have benefitted from the Non Profit Security Grant over the years. These grants have enabled our schools and Shuls to enhance their security, keeping our children and ourselves a lot safer.

Over the past few years, the funding for these grants has been drastically cut, limiting the amount of awardees significantly.

This year, however, the Senate has introduced a substantial increase in the funding, doubling last years amount.

Now the ball lies in the hands of congress. A letter has been drafted by Rep. King and Rep. Parcell urging members of congress to match the senate amount, and 9 New Jersey Representatives signed the letter.

“The fact that so many of New Jerseys representatives signed the letter is evidence of our comunity’s political influence in New Jersey,” Agudath Israel New Jersey Director Rabbi Avi Schnall tells TLS. “We need to continue our efforts by thanking those that signed so they continue to support this funding.”
