VIDEO: Mr. David Kahn, leading US instructor of Krav Maga, Israeli Martial Arts, delivers a personal message to the Lakewood community regarding Self-Defense in the Jewish community. Mr. Kahn is the author of two best selling books, “Krav Maga” and “Advanced Krav Maga” and is offering himself as a resource to the Lakewood community. Mr. Kahn currently gives self-defense classes in Hamilton, NJ, about 30 minutes from Lakewood, Monday through Thursday.
“The method of Krav Maga, is reality based, and not stressing complex forms”, David says. The system is a collation, a “best of” many different schools. The techniques are instinctual and natural, therefore easy learned and applied. On average, everyone being of different physical, emotional/mental abilities, can adapt these techniques in a stressful environment in approximately 2-3 months”.
David stresses most importantly being aware of your surroundings. Being attuned to your environment will save most unforeseen misfortune. Predators stalk the unaware, and hat spring in your step and clear focus, will thwart most assailants.
“The next concept is clear methodology of de-escalation if confronted, not posing as a threat. Keeping your hands up in a submissive stance, all the while ready to deal with any attack”.
“Finally, is the predator that will not leave without attacking. This is where training and self-defense will help save your life”.
How can someone who is interested enlist or find out more information?
Its this approved by daas torah?
David – what resources are you offering? Will you be giving a class in lakewood, or just contributing articles regarding self defense? what we need in this town is a frum based self defense class.
Its a great workout that also teaches you how to defend yourself effectively.
David, i would love to restart training locally, how can i sign up?
…and will there be/can there be classes for children?
how can i contact ??
#2 have you asked dass tora if you can blog?
David you gotta open in Lakewood already! David and able Kahn are the best of the best he says after 2-3 months you’ll know how to defend yourself, i have to say he is being humble i was rocken and rollen after just 2-3 weeks
“Its this approved by daas torah?”
Does everything need to go to Daas Torah? how about using your own God given seichel? if you fee you will gain from such a course so go for it, if not, just turn the page..
How much does this training course cost?
Will there be classes for women available? If yes, please post more info or where to call/email to find out more.
Thanks
Is there any contact info for David Kahn?

Yes, EVERYTHING should be done with daaas Torah!
(At times, for example: b’shaas hadchak you sometimes gotta use your own seichel — based on daas Torah, of course.)
It soulnds like a great idea. But kinda weird to write it up and not give
contact info.
please the video, the refernce to the holacuse is kefira and past nisht for lakewood.
From all the posters..it looks like one person is posting all these questions under different names to try to hype up this advertisement.
“men and woman in the class”?
Great idea – contact info? (No, I’m not a shill as #16 might suggest…)
i know # 16, he is planning to start his own paid of course in Lkwd.
Reply to #2. I don’t think daas Torah allows you to use the web either.
i agree with number 16 , someone is trying to push it,
there are more posts here than i have seen jewish people in the surronding martial arts classes. howell TR ect.
and i totally agree that you have to ask daas torah on this one. martial arts is full of different things and each form has its own issues. i doubt any posek will let you go to shiloan temple to learn kung fu because it may be real avodah zara.
although this israeli form takes out all the avoda zara issues, and bowing ect. it seems laced with koachi ve’otzem yadi kefira. one should ask a rav or if you decide not to ask a rav, just make sure to put on a spodik to cover up your kipa seruga , when you try to get your kids into school ( as r avrom yeshua put it)
and to master david. if you want to “sell it” to the lakewood crowd. just stick to this. 1. its good for your health 2. it helps you focus on learning. 3. it helps you defend yourself- ushmatem as nafshosechem.
dont try to sell any JDL type of ideas
sounds great, physical exercise, self confidence. what i think most important … better to know how to defend yourself and not have to, than to have to defend yourself and not know how.
It’s from the Israeli ARMY , Will you go to
the Army??US or Israel?
As an am ho’oretz, I am sincerely asking the people out there the following question:
I keep seeing this issue of daas torah come up again and again. I am serious: Where does it say in Shulchan Aruch that a person should ask Daas Torah about every decision that he makes?
It is a CHIYUV to learn self defense.
I AM not a Posek and perhaps times have changed and there is diferent issues today however if you study Jewish history starting from Avrohom Avinu to the Shevatim through Nach down to the Roman Empire and even afterwords aside from Learining and Davening it seems Jews were formidable fighters to and when necessery stood up to the task they obviously must have been trained in hand to hand combat and weaponry
if you want peace … be prepared for war … when you are able to defend yourself, physical intimidation and aggression are easily nullified, stopping the action before it starts.
R’ Avigdor Miller (during a questions and answers) advised against martial art, as it gives you the false sense of being able to stand up to any instigation and earn a bullet, rather than ignore them.
