Trying to tackle human resources issues without a human resources department?  The Lakewood Development Corporation, the administrative arm of the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ), is offering the public a free business seminar, “Human Resources – Setting Up and Managing,”  Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Conference Room C, Lakewood Municipal Building, 231 Third Street, Lakewood. The workshop, presented by the SBA (Small Business Administration) and NJAWBO (N.J. Association of Women Business Owners), will present the secrets of smart hiring, including interviewing tools to help hire the right employees and the process for selecting the right candidate from several qualified candidates.  Attendees will also learn the dos and don’ts of interviewing, and which Internet trends and tools are valuable for recruiting and hiring. Other topics include policies and procedures, critical people needs, and recordkeeping and legal issues.
All businesses are welcome whether or not they are participating in a UEZ program. A question and answer period will follow.
