The Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch (LCSW) was approved by the Lakewood Development Corporation (LDC) for a $20,000 grant towards the purchase of a new vehicle, Mayor Akerman says.
The vehicle purchased will be used by the civilian volunteers in patrolling the town, as they’ve been doing for the last few years.
The group of about thirty members, has assisted the Lakewood Police Department in dozens of arrests over the last few years.
The LDC has in the past also awarded grants to Hatzolah, Lakewood First Aid and other volunteer organizations. TLS.
Who Runs The lcsw now (moderated)?
was that tax money? because lets face it – the LCSW only patrol “certain” neighborhoods.

Isn’t “certain” better then none at all?
I would like to know WHO decides where money should go.
And by “certain” you mean where these crooks come to commit their crimes. Those “other” neighborhoods you refer to are where these guys are COMING FROM. So it wouldn’t make much sense to patrol there.
i never see lcsw in my neighborhood? i also like to know if this is tax payers money because i like to see patrols in my neighborhood.
That nice…..lcsw get a new vehicle while the Lakewood Fire Department who protects EVERYONE not just certain neighborhoods is possibly getting a $30k cut in the already hurt budget. Makes sense to me.
Patrol the parking in handicap spots !
why were they only aproved for one they should get at least 5 or 6 more on the road. they do an amazing job working with the lpd and with the comunity they should get more thats my opinion!!! guys keep up the amazing work u do for the comunity the whole lakewood thanks guys!!!!
why do I have a feeling that the tax revenue comes from those “certain” areas?
maybe you want lcsw to keep an eye on tent city also????????
I think lcsw does best by helping to keep those “noncertain” so called area residents out of the “certain” areas.
hmmm maybe LPD’s car outfitters can assist LCSW in finding a good vehicle or two…..
This is great! LSCW is one of the most underestimated, unrecognized, organizations in this town.
Glad to see that they are finally being recognized.
Thanx!
Yep. There are the attitudes I love.

So, it seems like there are two communities in Lakewood… Jews and criminals?
How about this plan then? LPD only patrols the areas the LSCW does not? Let the LSCW be put in dangers way when a criminal confronts them with a gun.
Thumbs up Larry! I think that many of these comments underscore your assessment…
Go for it.
It’s too dangerous in the ridge area.
