LCSW Asks Parents To Beware Of Driver Offering Children Candy To Enter His Vehicle

The Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch is asking parents to be vigilant and be on the lookout for a man who is reportedly offering children candy and inviting them to join him in his vehicle. The driver, described as a white male driving a black Toyota Camry with tinted windows, hasreportedly made his way around several developments around town with similar offers.

The vehicle was recently spotted in Lakeview and in Westgate, LCSW confirms.

As the weather improves and children spend longer hours outdoors, parents are asked to keep a constant watch on their children.

A police report has been filed regarding the incident.

Anyone with information is requested to call the police at 732-363-0200 and LCSW at 732-367-1212. TLS 24 A/B.

  1. when my kids were little and we talked about strangers, we called it “stranger danger”, parents teach you children not to speak to anybody that they don’t know, may hashem watch over all the children

  2. Now that the weather is getting nicer and children are playing outside more why don’t they play in their backyard instead of on the street. They would be much safer in their own yard. That’s what big yards are for.

  3. Most of the developements have yards, maybe the townhouses should stop building so close together. Asmall yard is still better than playing on the sidewalk.

  4. Yards are better and it’s a more familiar territory for kids. If a parent is gonna have their kids go to the park and if they can’t always watch them then they should hire someone trustworthy who will. This way the person watching the kids can report back to the parent on how they were. Of course teaching kids about strangers is important too.
It’s important for parents to teach children starting at a young age so that the danger of strangers will always stay with them and that they’ll know what to do if it does happen.

  5. time and again, i witness small children outside without an adult [or older sibling] to be seen. on more ocassions than i can remember,i have stopped my car and told parents it is unacceptable for their small child to be outside alone. and,may i point out this is after knocking on their door, for their doors were not even open. unfortunately this is not a safe world..and just as we wouldn’t leave our diamond jewelry on our front lawns, neither should we leave our most precious jewels out there either!

  6. I am not aware of a single yeshivah in town that teaches students about the dangers of predators, why not???

any WHY, oh WHY do I routinely see children as young as 3 years old, wandering around the streets of a development completely unattended??

  7. In los Angeles there’s an organization called aleinu which has programs geared towards teaching children about safety. I have heard that people there are very impressed with their work. Maybe we can bring them in to train our schools.

  8. There is a great mitzva to watch our children and to protect them.
Remember – childrens welfare is the resposibility of the parents! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILDREN WITHOUT SUPERVISION! You wouldnt leave your gold watch without it being gaurded – dont do less for your precious children.

  9. #12 Torah Umesorah is is trying to get Mrs. Fox’s program as well as Mrs. Weissman’s Program (geared towards frumer schools) into all schools, and as of now $$$$$$$$$$ is the only thing thats holding them back……. it can be reality for this coming schoolyear if you have any sponsorship leads… anyone?

  10. this story reeks , the vehicle was spotted in 2 developements and no one got the plate #? why does this story keep resurfacing every couple of years?

  11. ABDUCTORS ARE NOT THE ONLY DANGERS FOR UNSUPERVISED CHILDREN! little ones are quite spontaneous in their actions and may use poor judgement when let’s say a their ball rolls into the street.can i ask #15…WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN????

  12. Come on LCSW catch this guy already !!!

We rely on u !! (as shiluchim of the almighty- of course)

U won’t get any help from the cops – they’re busy making sure our children are safe from US !! As in ticketing those that use their children 2 hold the garbage cans as they drive 3 miles per hour 2 the dump drop off !

  13. LCSW keep up the gr* job of being a supportive set of eyes and ears to the community . Keep on being “vigilant ” and thank you for not being ” vigilante ” ( my personal 2cents )
