Another new poll finds Gov. Jon Corzine and Republican challenger Chris Christie running nearly even in the New Jersey governor’s race. The Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey Poll released today finds Christie backed by 43 percent of likely voters, while the incumbent Democrat is supported by 42 percent. In the last Monmouth/Gannett poll issued two weeks ago, they were tied at 39 percent. Independent Chris Daggett was backed by 8 percent of likely voters in the latest poll, down from 14 percent. “This election will be defined by turnout like few others before it,” poll director Patrick Murray said.
The telephone poll of 1,041 likely voters was taken Oct. 28-20 and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points. AP

TLS. After the election is over, please post the actual numbers of votes from people that voted for Corzive/Christie. It would be interesting to know how many voters actually are still influenced by the VAAD’s endorsements.
Anyone who I have spoken to is voting for Christie – behind closed doors.
Guys it looks like our vote is important. Let’s use it wisely…
VOTE CHRISTIE eventhough the vaad is for corzine Reb Aron Zt“l wound not be !!!
Even more of a reason to vote Christie the vaad by endorsing corzine is splitting the lakewood vote had they endorsed christie they would get the entire lakewood vote but greed and $$$ comes first and as the tzibbur pays the highest taxes in the nation and christie promised to work on vouchers and bring relief to the struggling mishpachos.
why is TLS not letting comments about cedarbridge development go through?
vote christie: I personally know a few individuals on the Vaad and they are very knowledgable about the inner workings of the government and more importantly they are yoiskim be’tsorkei tsibur be’emuna. There are not greedy for the power and money as you kindly suggest, but all they have in mind is our Tsibbur’s interests. If you don’t believe me, go talk to them. They are not hiding….Unlike some of you guys trying to please Rush Limbaugh and Hannity, they are trying to please Ribono shel Oilom.
if u want to contine living in peace then vote for christie. if u want to be told how to live then vote corzine. corzine will be making this state a police state and you will be powerless
EVERYONE I speak to is voting Christie. They all want to vote what’s best for them not who other people say they should. Forget route 9 worry about YOUR property taxes!!!
Just In: What did you have for breakfast?…
Hey yungerman for Corzine. Were you by the “Ssmart Growth” meeting – 90% of unZerer comments were coming from people who had agendas not leshaim shomayim and NOT following” Vehisim nekiyim” We had the daughter of the Cedarbridge developer speaking saying build a hotel next to the stadium. We had afffordable housing “NJ Hand” saying he was for Smart Growth” they were very receptive to what the seniors were saying. Yes I know the Cheder has a vested interest in getting it past and I would love that to happen but at what cost? The seniors need to be upset over some lousy smart growth plan? I highly doubt Daas torah says vote for Toevi marraige and high RE tax – Corzine.
Yungerman4corzine,
Go take off your shoes at Rothkoffs home and leave the serious stuff to adults.
anon 11:26: You should not worry about anything. It’s not good for your health…. Btw, all you guys writing here how Christie will lower high property taxes, are you yourself paying them? Because if you would, you would know that the state government has nothing to do with the real estate taxes.
Yungerman: yes I AM paying property tax. Apparently you aren’t otherwise you too would be worried. And BTW the state does mandate property tax as a large portion does go to the state Govt. Read your tax bill.
The state has a greater impact on property taxes than you might think, albeit indirectly. The school tax, for instance, is as large as it is because the state has refused to revisit their formula for dealing with a district with more private than public school students – the sate contribution to the school district’s budget is disproportionately low. Similarly, Lakewood has experienced tremendous growth since the last census, but the state has refused to grant it urban designation (which makes the township eligible for vastly increased funding form the state) until the 2010 census is complete. This designation would offset a far greater portion of the township budget than is now being covered by the state – the descision to delay this designation plays out in increased property taxes. Property tax rebates are determined by the state as well as the deductible status of property tax from state income tax. To say that the state has no impact on our property taxes is disengenious – its impact is significant.
anon 12:07: I am glad you are paying your taxes.Keep it up… FYI, up to 90% of the real estate tax goes to pay for the public schools and the police. The state raises its revenue through taxing income, tools, and other taxes, but not through taxing real property.
anon 12:16: I don’t disagree with you. I just think that it’s disingenuous to think that Christie will do much better than Corzine in this respect.
more talking points from the vaad
point #1 the state does not affect your property tax… that’s a big LIE it does play a role
talking point #2 hakoras hatov..balooney what has corzine done for us he was governor for the last 4 years
point #3 we represent the tzibburs best intrest… not true only the intrest of some mosdos ie. cedarbridge etc…
pont #4 we will strongly make sure that toeivah legislation will not be put on private schools…..will never happen they have no pyll its all talk.
Yungerman: is you would be a little bit objective as opposed to carpetbagging for corzine as well as drinking his coolaid like someone who is completly in the tank for him you would certainly put your bet ( or vote ) on spmeone who atleast SAYS he will reduce taxes as opposed to someone who won’t go on record saying they won’t raise taxes. Consider that and at least there is something to have some hope on. Aside from the fact that traditionally repulicans are tax cutters and democrats are raisers of taxes.
can tls get a comment from rav chaim kaniefsky or rav elyashiv asap? yes the vaad has endorsed corzine, but were the roshei hayeshiva told that we are giving up moral principals for cash . even if christi loses at least we took a stand to show that jews are for morality. isn’t that worth more than all the hud applications? if someone outthere can get a fax two the aforementioned it would really help.
What kind of yungerman blogs during seder? Vote for Christie.
A Yid: I don’t now learn full-time, though I did for many years. I am very passionate about this election because of my concern that many of my chaverim who do learn full-time, with Chrisie’s win, might lose many of the programs they badly need.
Also, I don’t think that this burly antisemitic cop with law degree, who entraped 89 year old Rabbi Kessin and many other yiden and try entraping Rabbi Avromel Ausband, deserves to be our Governor. I bet you disagree…
this notion of asking a rav who to vote for or having to be told who to vote for is degrading to our own being. Vote which ever candidte is best for you wich one will lower my taxes which one will alleviate the growing financial burden which one is in line with the beliefs of a torah jew…
vote christie
I am keeping count looks like ONLY Yungerman for Corzine will be voting that way. Not much support got Corzine and the good old boyz by these message boards.Yoni Silver (A real Askan and straight shooter) with no negious is implying Christie is the way to go.
yashrus or whatever: I don’t care how you or others vote. It’s a free country… I am just doing my part because of what I think is in the best interests of our community as a whole.
RE: Lakewood voters;
There was a RAINBOW Shabbos morning in lakewood.
It’s אסור to vote this year in Lakewood for local or state candidates.
Anyone concerned about the ציבור or their high taxes in Lakewood should stay away from the voting booth and DON”T VOTE.
Besides the tremendous ביטול תורה
if u vote for corzine ur saying “yes” to gay marriage need i say more
anyone with hakoras hatov to Hashem will vote Chistie regardless of ANYTHING!
