Authorities are continuing their search for a boater who went missing after the storm hit yesterday.
The Coast Guard and local authorities in Toms River are searching for the man who entered the Toms River from Ocean Gate in a rowboat on Tuesday afternoon, and was reported missing by his wife around 4 p.m.
The Coast Guard said two search crews as well as a State Police helicopter and members of Toms River fire companies conducted a search from the air and on the water and recovered his life jacket and the rowboat on Tuesday night.
Attached are photos of the man.
Anyone with information should call police immediately.
UPDATE: Officer Edward Wargo of the US Coast Guard tells TLS the search was suspended pending further investigation.
The man they are searching for is a 67-year-old Ocean Gate resident.
Ocean Gate Police declined comment.
UPDATE: The body of the missing boater was located Thursday in Island Beach State Park. The Sherrif, Ocean County Prosecutor, and Medical Examiner’s officers responded to the area.
This is tragic and so so heartbreaking!
My heart and prayers go out to the family and may they find comfort and the strength to move on.
