JUST IN: TLS has learned that Lakewood’s Transportation Department manager will be resigning. William Coyle, who has been with the school district for a number of years, has submitted his required papers giving the district a sixty day notice for his resignation. Although no official reason is available at this time, a source tells TLS the job ‘became too overwhelming’.
Mr. Coycle was not available for comment.
I agree this is Job is very hard. Where the children are standing and not sitting down… Where the children put their hand out the windows.. Littering out the windows.. The Bus Driver are responsible for these childrens.. Is anyone going to anything about this in Lakewood???

what are the duties of the Transortation manager? can we eliminate this department is it under the board of ed or public works?

With all the crazy stuff that’s been going on in the school-busing scene in Lakewood they should have added at least another person in that office..
Bill Coyle is a hardworking friend of our community. He bent over backwards countless times to make our bussing work, and I will miss him.

School bus transportation in Lakewood is a mess. Perhaps we can get a strategy that will safely transport students to and from school at a better price through more effective and more efficient management.
Transportation must be a quality service, at a good price, managed by qualified people.

he is a very nice guy i had an issue with my childs bus time and mr coyle was very nice and helpful and so was the rest of the office get them more help they are five people bussing close to thirty tousand kids thanks for all your hard work

i see many posts blaming and bill and the drivers for the childrens safety, but did anyone speak on the childrens behavior….PARENTS it is also our responsiblity to speak to our children about the APPROPRIATE behavior. the drivers are responsible for driving they are NOT babysitters. their seatbelts should be on at ALL times and can you honestly say they don’t know any better….pls….there is NO EXCUSE for kids to be standing and throwing things out of the window….if the driver stopped everytime a child did something wrong or wrote them up 1) they would never get home and 2) they would be removed off of the bus for too many write up….SO CHECK YOUR KIDS!
We have the highest property taxes and if you look at your tax bill you will see most of it is going to the Board of Ed.
You have a few people there who were doing shady stuff, getting contracts for their friends, etc… and B”H for the LAC dedicated members who finally came in and said enough! We want accountability! And when the questions start coming, the bad ones start running…. Let them all run and hide. Just get out of here. We need honest people running our town and specifically our BOE.

this is a fact that no one can deny , when you talk about reducing taxes there are those who say the BOE is not the issue ! well I don’t understand how they make that statement , what has happened they have become a “sacred”cow that can’t be touched and just look now they want to lay off 5 officers because of a shortfall in the budget yet no one looks at some of the waste in the BOE just insane !!!
