PHOTO: Officer Brandon Burkhardt, pictured, is one of the latest police officers to hit the roads of Lakewood solo this week.
Burkhardt is one of several new officers recently hired to replace the retiring officers – some of whom were in Lakewood for close to 30 years. Being that he had prior experience, he, and a few others, only required in-house training before hitting the streets.
The other officers recently hired will be graduating soon from the Ocean County Police Academy and will go through an approximately ten-week training with an FTO (Field Training Officer) under the directive of Sergeant Rob Shimanovich, before hitting the streets solo.
