Lakewood’s Multi-year Road Repaving Project to Get Underway Soon; Take Notice if You’re Planning Work Near Your Property

mass repaving 8-28-15As previously reported on TLS, the Lakewood Township will be commencing with a multi-year project to completely repave many of the roads in Lakewood.

“The first group of streets is slated to start fairly soon – probably within the next month,” a Township official told TLS.

Though the end-result will be a huge asset to the town in general, there are short-term issues that will create a challenge for residents hoping to add utilities to the areas where they are building their homes, if they are on these streets.

“A 3-year moratorium on road opening can really put a wrinkle in the plans, and we are working on a solution to help these people,” the Township official said.

“While the specific roads to be done in each year are not yet set, contacting the utilities company to make them aware of your plans is a good idea as they can then plan with the township to accommodate your needs.”

  1. To # 2 Mo –

Ridge Avenue is not a municipal road. Lakewood township is not permitted to repave it. Why don’t you reach out to the County Roads Dept. and see what they can do about your issue. Good luck!

  2. Arlington ave looks like the pictures from the lunar landing. Every time a new house is built they massacre another section of road and do a fix that is laughable. How about repaving….

  3. Ridge Ave Past Brook Rd Is County..Ridge Ave between the middle school and park ave is Township..it sucks but you will have to deal with all the construction ripping up the roads one more year before it is deemed ok to pave. Sorry

  4. East End Ave, is in DIRE need of being repaved. I am writing this as a public service, because nobody who lives there has access to the Internet… 😉

  5. Please lets put stricter policies in place in regards to patching up after utility work .
The current situation is deplorable .
With my own eyes I have seen newly paved roads mutilated by utility companies . The patches in many cases seem amateurish .
What we need is stricter standards and strict follow up inspection and enforcement .
If this is not done than the whole re pavement project will be a waste .

  6. THEY CHOSE ONLY EASY AND SMALL STREETS SO THE LIST IS LONG, TO HUSH THE RESIDENTS.

    HOW ABOUT:

    1. MARTIN LUTHER KING
    2. RIDGE
    2. SOMERSET
    4. PINE AVE
    5. PARK AVE

    AND SO ON…..

WHAT ABOUT THE MAIN ROADS THAT WERE REPAVED DECAEDA AGO?

WHAT ABOUT THE MAIN ROADS THAT WAS TORN APPART TECENTLY BY THE TOWNSHIP FOR THE NEW WATER PIPES????

    SHAME ON YOU!!!

  7. There are streets that are not on the list that are the responsibility of other companies to pave. That is probably why a street like mlk is not on the list.

For example, linden ave was “paved by the township” a few months ago. It was probably done by the company the opened the road to add utilities for the houses that were built there. If it was done by the township, then they would have repaved another 10 ft to include the pot holes and defects that were already there…

  8. I live on the other side of the lake but Case road must be repaved there are potholes large enough for a HIppo to take a bath in all over the road. no exaggration. I encourage people to take picitures of the massive potholes and send to the township. As far as paving goes how about finishing paving HIllside BLVD for the first time before repaving other streets. they only put down the first coarse layer of paving and never finisehd it with smooth blacktop…

  9. The second layer of Hillside is the responsibility of the developer, not the township. It was not given fully over to the township and won’t be until all Construction is complete do keep waiting for it to be all done.
