As previously reported on TLS, the Lakewood Township will be commencing with a multi-year project to completely repave many of the roads in Lakewood.
“The first group of streets is slated to start fairly soon – probably within the next month,” a Township official told TLS.
Though the end-result will be a huge asset to the town in general, there are short-term issues that will create a challenge for residents hoping to add utilities to the areas where they are building their homes, if they are on these streets.
“A 3-year moratorium on road opening can really put a wrinkle in the plans, and we are working on a solution to help these people,” the Township official said.
“While the specific roads to be done in each year are not yet set, contacting the utilities company to make them aware of your plans is a good idea as they can then plan with the township to accommodate your needs.”
So whether you’re a private owner, builder or developer, and have plans for properties anywhere in the area of the dozens of roads set to be repaved, make sure you get ahead of the process.

WHAT ABOUT MARTIN LUTHER KING DR????????
Can someone please explain how Ridge isn’t on this list?
How did they pick these streets?
Some of these streets are cul de sacs! Wouldn’t it make sense to repave streets that are used more?
Can someone explain why Somerset is not on the list, oh how about Fernwood???
What about east end
What about Hackett
Is this the official ” what about my street” thread? I would like to nominate Case Rd!!
What abt princton
How is MLK not on the list?!
CASE ROAD! CASE ROAD! CASE ROAD!
What about oak street???!!!
Ridge is literally a roller coaster!!
To # 2 Mo –
Ridge Avenue is not a municipal road. Lakewood township is not permitted to repave it. Why don’t you reach out to the County Roads Dept. and see what they can do about your issue. Good luck!
How about Carol street! !
Mlk and park ave- that’s something special
Arlington ave looks like the pictures from the lunar landing. Every time a new house is built they massacre another section of road and do a fix that is laughable. How about repaving….
Why Shoshana !?!
Private Way???
If you all think your street should be paved call the port authority
GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ridge Ave Past Brook Rd Is County..Ridge Ave between the middle school and park ave is Township..it sucks but you will have to deal with all the construction ripping up the roads one more year before it is deemed ok to pave. Sorry
Finally my street is being repaved!
One can lose a kidney driving on Oak St. Why is it not on the list?!
Hello! Martin Luther king drive is a must! It’s time to sue the township!
Anyhow I don’t think the township does the greatest job paving roads. They are just not trained properly.
Park Ave please!!!!!!!! and Ridge is 1 big roller coaster!
They did oak but the worst part from Albert to New Hampshire they left.
Christine # 22 –
Apparently the repaving department’s policy is that both kidneys need to be at risk in order for the roadway to get qualified. LOL
Like seriously Ridge is not the first one…..¿¿
Why isn’t Caranetta Dr. in alphabetical order? (Just thought I’d like to join the crowd and complain too:)
14th street is TERRIBLE especially from Hope to Forest
Funny. MLK is actually like trying to navigate the lunar surface. It’s an embarrassment.
East End Ave, is in DIRE need of being repaved. I am writing this as a public service, because nobody who lives there has access to the Internet… 😉
eleventh between Madison and Clifton! It’s the pits!
Please lets put stricter policies in place in regards to patching up after utility work .
The current situation is deplorable .
With my own eyes I have seen newly paved roads mutilated by utility companies . The patches in many cases seem amateurish .
What we need is stricter standards and strict follow up inspection and enforcement .
If this is not done than the whole re pavement project will be a waste .
THEY CHOSE ONLY EASY AND SMALL STREETS SO THE LIST IS LONG, TO HUSH THE RESIDENTS.
HOW ABOUT:
1. MARTIN LUTHER KING
2. RIDGE
2. SOMERSET
4. PINE AVE
5. PARK AVE
AND SO ON…..
WHAT ABOUT THE MAIN ROADS THAT WERE REPAVED DECAEDA AGO?
WHAT ABOUT THE MAIN ROADS THAT WAS TORN APPART TECENTLY BY THE TOWNSHIP FOR THE NEW WATER PIPES????
SHAME ON YOU!!!
There are streets that are not on the list that are the responsibility of other companies to pave. That is probably why a street like mlk is not on the list.
For example, linden ave was “paved by the township” a few months ago. It was probably done by the company the opened the road to add utilities for the houses that were built there. If it was done by the township, then they would have repaved another 10 ft to include the pot holes and defects that were already there…
I live on the other side of the lake but Case road must be repaved there are potholes large enough for a HIppo to take a bath in all over the road. no exaggration. I encourage people to take picitures of the massive potholes and send to the township. As far as paving goes how about finishing paving HIllside BLVD for the first time before repaving other streets. they only put down the first coarse layer of paving and never finisehd it with smooth blacktop…
Big sign up MLK getting done Saturday – no parking 7am-7pm!
Hooray!
Just saw a sighn on Martin Luther that they’re paving the street Saturday from 7am to 7pm
pawnee and seminole are terrible
The second layer of Hillside is the responsibility of the developer, not the township. It was not given fully over to the township and won’t be until all Construction is complete do keep waiting for it to be all done.
VERY GOOD
SO THE LIST IS WRONG. UNLESS MLK GOT IN BECAUSE OF THIS THREAD.
@mlk-This road got on because
#blackroadsmatter, not because of this thread
