Lakewood’s Kosher West Supermarket, Other West Gate Shops Lose Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in Perishables after Power Outage [PHOTOS]

A partial power outage resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars in perishables at the Kosher West Supermarket and other West Gate shops, TLS has learned.

On Friday night, the plaza partially lost power, though it was indiscernible from the outside.

By the time store-owners and managers arrived at the shops last night and today, fridge and freezer items were lost.

Most of the lost perishables were at Kosher West Supermarket, though the pizza shop, ice cream store and others lost items as well.

“We got in fresh shipments and many items have already been restocked,” says Kosher West Supermarket proprietor Reb Avrohom Moshe Muller. “By tomorrow night we should be back in full operation.”

JCP&L is trying to determine what caused the outage, which stemmed from an issue outside.

  1. I must say I was very impressed with the way the entire staff handled the situation. They were very helpful in ensuring the utmost pleasant shopping experience despite the obvious hiccup

  2. I’m trying to understand why doesn’t every single grocery store have a generator? I understand they will likely get reimbursed from insurance but wouldn’t the premiums would be drastically lower if they had?
