PHOTOS: Sometimes they’re just too busy protecting Lakewood’s children to even acknowledge a thank-you, but today Lakewood’s Crossing Guards were properly recognized and thanked for their tiresome work.
During a late-morning brunch at the Municipal Building, the Mayor and other Committeeman and officials thanked Lakewood’s Crossing Guards for their professionalism and dedication to their duties – which are performed in the most extreme weather conditions of each season.
The brunch, founded by Committeeman Menashe Miller, was also attended by Police Chief Rob Lawson, and Lakewood’s Traffic & Safety divion, which oversees the Crossing Guards department. [TLS]

You guys are the best!
Princeton Ave. and East 9th street bro has purple shades that are awesome!
We all owe a debt of gratitude to some of the finest public servants we have in our town. Thank you all for being there for kids and helping the jewish community during our holidays. You’re a fantastic group
Hip Hip Hooray!!!! This is not a cake walk job as many think it is.
There job is tough with the amount of traffic in Lakewood, and many are so friendly.. even during bad weather. I recall seeing them during the Hurricane..working so hard THANK YOU!
They are truly the unsung heros of the town. Watching over our youth as theywalk to and from school.
Thank you
They are the greatest!! What would we do without these terrific men and women who are out there in all sorts of weather? I do hope that the families who benefit from their services show their appreciation personally.
So glad that they are being recognized officially. Wish there was a way for us to show our personal appreciation as well- perhaps to be notified in advance so we can send in notes or cards. YOU ARE WONDERFUL AND WE ALL APPRECIATE YOUR HARD WORK.
I hope the town pays them well….. for working in the elements
