A Lakewood Yungerman was held up at gunpoint while walking home from Shul on Yom Tov, police confirm to TLS.
The man was reportedly walking home from Shul Sunday evening in Raintree when he was approached by two men, one of whom pulled out a gun and demanded his money.
When the victim stated he had no money on him, the suspects checked his pockets and when they came back empty-handed they fled.
The Yungerman – uninjured but shaken up – went home and reported the incident to his non-Jewish neighbor, who phoned police.
Police say they have no description of the suspects, other than they were possibly two black males, one carrying a black handgun.

Why dont people ever learn that these incidents should be reported to police immidiately ON SHABOS AND YOM TOV according to all poskim.
If they would have then decided to enter a home or take more severe action at the next person they encounter, would that be acceptable?
Please, get to the nearest phone, pick it up and dial 911, yes even on Shabos and Yom Tov. the next person’s life you save will be thanks to you. Much beter than the alternative.
Read the report! He went to his non Jewish neighbor and they called police..
Why; which poskim are you refering to and on what basis may you be mechalel shabbos and not look for a way to do without chilul shabbos, not that life is cheap
#1 is correct – if there is a remote possibility that they will go to the next house or approach another person you are to call the police immediately.
Please correc tme but it may be R Shlomo Zalman Aurbach. I think Rabbi Rotberg of Lakewood quotes him on this subject…
many people and homes are not the first victim of the perps that night. they just go to the next home or next block…
Can someone explain why it’s referred to as ‘Lakewood Yungerman’ instead of the more standard ‘Orthodox Jewish man’? I don’t see a need for veiling the description like this. A lot of readers don’t even know yiddish.
Tine to buy guns, way to many criminal are running around lkwd with guns & robbing people bec they know basically no one in lkwd owns a gun, its almost coming the norm every few days that someone either gets shot or held up by gun point in lkwd,if more people would be protected they would be a little more scared, don’t wait till its too late
Just in s case if you decide to buy a gun – take a safety course (to learn how to use it properly, it’s not as easy as it seems, and not to shoot yourselves or your friends in the leg).
