Lakewood women learn self-defense (PHOTOS)

On Tuesday night, Lakewood CERT and the Lakewood Police Department presented a Self-Defense Training Course for Women at the Lakewood Office of Emergency Management.

This course is part of a concentrated effort on behalf of both agencies to better prepare the community and individuals for crisis. The course was filled to capacity with women of all ages and provided them with tools and techniques to keep themselves safe in a threatening situation. At the evening’s end, each woman received a certificate of completion.

“Instructors at the training were very satisfied with the course’s outcome and the level of preparedness that the attendees have reached and are looking forward to the next course which will train a different group of women,” Lakewood CERT said.

Pt. A. Pedre of Lakewood Police Department said, “We are fortunate in Lakewood, because in this town people come out and help each other in need”.
