Lakewood Vaad: For near 20 years, the Lakewood Vaad has operated a 24/7 Vaad Hotline, fielding calls from individuals who wanted to express concerns, who had emergencies, or who sought the Vaad’s assistance.
Through the years, many thousands of Lakewood residents called to highlight problems in their neighborhood, to request that askanim address a problem, or to share their input. Many residents used the Hotline to share their views on candidates for political office and on how things were going in town, and to express what they felt the town priorities should be.
Hotline calls were each meticulously returned – with Vaad members providing a listening ear, a helping hand and practical assistance when possible. Input given to the Hotline was also collated and shared among Vaad members, to ensure that the Vaad stays up to date on the issues of the day.
With the volume of Vaad Hotline calls growing rapidly, the Vaad is pleased to share a new email address, [email protected] , through which the tzibur can reach the Vaad, allowing more members of the Kehilla to communicate with Vaad askanim, and through which the public can express their point of view on matters that concern them in town. For those wanting a personal response to their emails, a Vaad member will personally call them back, as has been the Vaad’s long practice with the Hotline. If you email the Vaad and want a call back, simply provide a contact name and telephone number along with a best time for a call back.
In addition, the Vaad is excited to announce a new forum, called “Ask the Vaad” which is a feature that will appear on The Lakewood Scoop each week. Any individual can submit a question, comment, raise a concern or suggest a course of action, by emailing [email protected] and requesting that their concern be responded to in-depth in the “Ask the Vaad” column. One of the Vaad members will write a response, posting it on the “Ask the Vaad” column which all can read.
The Vaad will continue to man the Vaad hotline, which remains as 732-961-1161.
I would suggest that the Vaad expand its membership to different segments of the community, as it stands the current Vaad only represents a very limited segment of old timers from the yeshiva area.
Other than helping kids get into schools, what does the vaad do? I’m asking genuinely.
Am I still allowed to call the Committee members directly or now I have to go through the Vaad in order to get my issues taken care of?
i am also wondering about this- is there anything else that they do? seems like no one else here knows about anything else they do either. can someone answer?
