2019 will definitely be a brighter year in Lakewood.
The Lakewood Township in 2018 has installed and upgraded hundreds of street lights around town.
Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein, who was instrumental in the process, confirmed there were over 700 lights installed or upgraded around Lakewood.
The new lights being installed are 250 watts, and the old ones were brought up to 250 watts as well.
Some of the streets that received new or ungraded lighting were, Forest Avenue, Route 88, Clover Street, Bergen Avenue, Holly Street, New Central Avenue, Regent Place, Cross Street, Twin Oaks Drive, Saint Nicholas Drive, and Cedarbridge Avenue.
The Mayor’s office tells TLS the Township is not done, and they will continue upgrading and installing lights wherever necessary in an effort to increase safety around Lakewood.

What about James and williams?
Hope the state and county are payig for the 88 and cedarbridge ave
Well if their busy blocking out the sun with chemicals everyday.. Street lights should come in handy.. thank you
Please add a light at East 7th & Whitmore
How does one go about requesting a street light?
Thank you! I drive on Cedarbridge often when I come off the parkway at night and I look forward to a brighter ride. I wont need to turn my brights on and off for every oncoming car.
Why not MLK Dr.???
An accident at night ever other week!
Thank you! So appreciative to all those who worked on this project! We don’t take it for granted and we understand that a lot of work goes into taking care of our town!
Take away the one on 1st & Clifton- its a horror!!! Use it where its actually needed
Thanks for the improvements! Just one question-why do they do this at 9am when its the craziest time in this city?? Can’t they do it at a less busy time. The traffic was insane!
Somerset needs more lights badly. Between county line and 7th St it’s very dark at night. Thanks
Great! Now let’s fill 1000 potholes, coordinate the existing lights, build some cross streets as an alternative to Williams st. & sunset, & soon Lakewood will be inhabitable again.
Thank you! Much appreciated.
still using old yellow bulbs???every modern city wether Brooklyn or phily has switched to LED 3 years ago!! they are brighter and whiter!!and more efficient, why are we always lagging behind by like 5 years???
hey if your up there in the bucket, do it right and put in the white bright LED lights boro park and Flatbush and rest of NYC has.
actually i think the old piggy ng work better than the led, it’s more spread out, so let’s keep these light’s, and yes let’s give credit where credit is due, to Meir Lichtenstein, and the Lakewood Township, Forest became much better for the thousand of people walking, Eric ng and crossing.
yes of course its much better now with lights, but if your doing it, do it right! go to those streets in broooklyn you will see they are much brighter
