Members of the Lakewood Township community are preparing to show their support of all veterans and those men and women now serving in the military at Lakewood’s traditional Memorial Day ceremonies, Monday, May 30, 2011, starting with the “Raising of the American Flag” ceremony at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood’s Town Square, Clifton Avenue.
The Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. and pass the Review Stand on its way down Clifton Avenue to the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, where the Memorial Day program will take.
In case of inclement weather the Memorial Day ceremony will be held in the auditorium
of the Lakewood Municipal building, 231 Third Street.
Mayor Menashe Miller, who is a Major in the Air Force and a chaplain, Senator Robert W. Singer, Senator Sean Kean, and Assemblyman David Rible, among other dignitaries, will be present at the All Wars Memorial Amphitheater.
Mayor Menashe Miller says, “The parade is a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to demonstrate their support for our esteemed veterans and for our selfless men and women currently in the service both here and abroad.”
Organizations and especially veterans who would like to participate in the Memorial Day program should contact Sarah Kay at 732-364-2500 ext. 5973 or email [email protected]. (Submitted to TLS).

I have going to the memorial day parade for many years and the attendance has been going down each year. I think everyone should make an effort to support out troops and show up at the parade.
bring the kids. wave a flag. All play groops should come. i notice each year there are a few play goups that come and they get to have there picture taken with members of the podium.
Come on out and show your support.
