Governor Murphy on Wednesday announced $161.25 million in municipal aid grants that will be given to 543 cities and towns across New Jersey to advance road, bridge, safety, and quality-of-life improvements.
The state received 635 applications for grants from 549 municipalities, with a total of $342 million requested. Applications were evaluated and rated by the New Jersey Department of Transportation and an independent panel of New Jersey municipal engineers.
Lakewood will be receiving $502,303 from the state for mobility work on the Vine Avenue extension project.
why isn’t the money going to traffic problem area’s? ie cross st /prospect st /hope chapel ave,, Route 9 South, to name a few????
Seriously?? We have literally been talking about this for 10 years??? While the entire town is snarled in traffic, we talk and talk and talk. While the quality of life goes further down the drain. And…..nothing will be done.
A true Vine Ave extension has the potential to be an alternative to rt 9 from Cedar Bridge all the way to Chestnut.
The only road block would be Bais Kaila on Spruce. I guess the solution would be either a tunnel or a bridge…
Instead of giving Lakewood the money to do absolutely nothing- why dont they use it to fix 1 block of Rt 9 (extend the bridge over the lake!) this will alleviate the REAL problem!
They’ve already gotten grants for this project… guess it fell into the swamp.
There must be a builder with plans to put up new housing and needs the road so he can build. The Builder should pay for the road needed to his development not the tax payers.
why do we need a grant, where is all our high tax money going?
