PHOTOS & VIDEO [UPDATED 8:40PM] Lakewood will soon get two new full interchanges coming off of the Garden State Parkway. Exit 88 at Route 70 and exit 89 at Airport Road, will soon get full interchanges with North and South-bound lanes, as opposed to just South-bound lanes.
“I think it will be a tremendous value to all residents of Lakewood, and in particular a great asset to our Industrial Park”, Steve Reinman, the Director of Economic Development, says.
Shawn Taylor, a representative from the New Jersey Turnpike Authority – along with two collegues – presented the plan to the Township Committee at this evening’s meeting. TLS.
About time
I don’t think you need access to off ramp on Exit 89 what will happen to exit ramp at 90 in brick?? I think its too much for traffic there those entrances are close together..will cause accidents..however on Route 70 it will be greatly appreciated for off & on ramps

Steve is always helpping out town thanks
Great!
Both airport road and rt70 have entrances to northbound lanes not southbound They will be adding southbound entrances
#2 i think the engineers will be considering all options and just because you are confused doesn’t mean that accidents will be on the rise.
they have the education and the field experience to make an educated decision.
i believe this will be all around a great improvement for traffic flow. won’t have to go to toms river or brick to catch the southbound travel lanes on the parkway anymore. it will save me time!
It seems to be referring to the exits off the GSP- hence there are currently only exits traveling southbound on the pkwy. If you are heading from south- you have to exit at 90, which is on Chambersbridge near the Brick library.
Hey, once the Garden State people are here, we should hav asked them to LOWER the tolls. We have a lot of revenue going in and out of lakewood and it is unfair to have these outrageous toll prices.
just going to nick pick, township boarders on the map are wrong –
“I think it will be a tremendous value to all residents of Lakewood, and in particular a great asset to our Industrial Park”, Steve Reinman, the Director of Economic Development, says.
the only thing in the industrial park is schools, and they don’t need the parkway.
it’s about time, they pitched this about 10 years ago.
Township committee – you guys rock! We were estatic to hear about the ZERO tax levy increase and now we’re elated to hear about these new plans of Lakewood having more accessability to the GSP. Kudos!
we need more cops
How about some improvment in bus service to manahattan as well.
For some reason Toms River has express bus service going to manhattan on all days and at all times while lakewood has to share its service with Brick and there is no service on the weekends.
This is great for the Industrial Park as well as The Blueclaws Stadium. Teriffice idea. Always wondered why they didnt do this when they opened the Northbound Lane a while back. Go for it.
this is great , it will take care of parkway backup at exit 89!
There are many people who travel into NYC and could use the extra service in the morning like another bus to leave at 7:00 am from Lakewood Bus Terminal.
If you request it you might get it.
If you think it, it might just stay in your mind.
