VIDEO: The Mayor’s ‘Lights On’ project is beginning to bear fruits, as the electric company providers start repairing the burnt out lights. The Mayor thanked Oscar’s Electric this morning as they started out with the burnt out street lights on Avenue Of America – one of the areas contracted out to Oscar’s Electric.
Oscar’s Electric explained that when the bulbs -which have about a three-year life span – reach the end of their use, they begin to flicker, or turn on and off intermittently, making it difficult for the company to keep track of the bulbs which are actually burnt out.
The Mayor therefore asked once again that residents who do notice a bulb burnt out, to phone it in to the designated Township phone number, which is 732-364-2500, extension 7653 (POLE).
Mayor Miller tells TLS that JCP&L – which does repairs in the evenings – has also begun fixing their burnt out bulbs.
This past Sunday’s ‘Lights On’ count, showed about 350 lights around Lakewood to be burnt out. TLS.
hi, tell Mark cedar row and walden ave it is on the list. C U soon
Nice job, Mayor Miller
avenue of america how ironic stadium goes first when there is nobody there all winter
Festival of lights light up the lights
Over 500 cars a day travel Avenue of the Americas, it has nothing to do with the Stadium. The street lights on the two roads by the Stadium are owned and maintained by the Twp., as well as the Clifton ave street lights between Main and Fifth Street. However, if it is a power supply problem then it becomes a JCP&L repair.
Thats a bright idea, but here’s another. Have public works replace the light bulbs, why do we pay Oscars top dollar to do so when we already pay pw employees. They have the trucks with the bucket lift thats not being used this time of year.
If the bulbs have a 3 year lifespan – then why don’t they have a route where they replace it every 3 years?
We should put this out to bid & stipulate that the contracter check the bulbs & keep track of each lifespan
I agree & we will see less bulbs out due to the competition gor the contact.
U mean to say that if M. Miller wouldn’t get involved we would eventually all b left in the dark??!!
I don’t get it, what’s next?
How much are we paying for this service?
Why does the same contracter change the bulbs for ever since i can remember ?
