With vaccines to protect against COVID-19 continuing to be distributed exclusively to frontline workers, at least five Lakewood school nurses have already been vaccinated, with more expected in the near future.
The vaccines, which are administered by CHEMED, are expected to protect the nurses from becoming infected with the virus, have been shown to be about 95% effective.
In a letter sent to CHEMED CEO Dr. David Friedman, Lakewood Schools Superintendent Laura Winters thanked the clinic on behalf of herself and the District for its help in providing the vaccine.
“I cannot tell you how much Chemed has helped the District navigate the unknown during the pandemic, and has allowed us to continue to provide the much needed in-person services to all students,” Winters wrote.
