Lakewood School District’s First Day Of Covid Testing A Success

As part of its reopening plan, the Lakewood School District is providing its students and staff free Covid-19 tests at no charge.

The testing, which began yesterday, has already attracted many Lakewood staff and students.

According to Lakewood School District officials, 371 individuals showed up to be tests. 365 received nasal swabs to test for Covid-19 and 343 had blood work done to check for antibodies.

The tests were administered by trained and experienced phlebotomists, medical assistants, and EMT’s, and managed by Friendly Urgent Care in conjunction with Medlabs.

Testing continues today at the Lakewood High School gym from 11-7 PM, and will be open daily until and including Monday, August 31st.

Those who wish to be tested must bring an identification card with them. Accepted ID’s include a driver’s license, insurance card, Mexican consulate card, or a photo ID such as a Costco card.
