Lakewood School District to purchase hundreds of laptops in the event of closure due to coronavirus

The Lakewood Board of Education is preparing for the possibility of a closure due to the coronavirus.

This evening, the Board of Education voted to purchase no more than 500 laptops to supplement the existing District inventory of laptops, so that every family in the district will have access to continued instruction if and when Lakewood schools close due to virus.

The District last month announced it was taking other measures to prepare for the coronavirus.

  1. And will someone please tell me where the money for these laptops will be coming from considering the BOE has millions of dollars in loans right now? Also, can someone tell me where the cellphones are that were purchased a few years ago and never got to the people they were supposed to go to? Where/who will these laptops go to if they are not needed – just disappear like the cellphones????
