Lakewood School District rolls out bus dismissal program

The Lakewood School District today announced their “2019-2020” “Transportation Initiative” in direct response to ongoing parent concerns as to transportation, expressed on Monday night, September 23rd at the Board meeting.

On Thursday, September 26. 2019, the District will begin implementing a Bus Dismissal Program by “Admire Pro.” This Company is a Lakewood-based organizational software Company that currently provides such services to more than 120 school throughout the tri-state area, California, Michigan, etc. and, currently, in approximately 20 nonpublic schools in Lakewood where the parents pay for this service.

The Bus Dismissal Program by “Admire Pro” will list all current bus routes on a tablet and/or cell phone. As the departure time of each bus changes, each school will have the ability to send a text or voice message to all parents/guardians of students on that bus route.

For instance, if a bus is running 15 minutes late from school, parents can be notified with a push of a button.

Staff training will commence today and tomorrow, Thursday, September 26th with the program “rolling out” to the parents/guardians of the school district by Friday, September 27th.

  1. Why would the District spend additional funding for this service. When the current routing software that they pay for has this capability. They don’t use it. Just asking

  2. Don’t most of the companies have a gps tracking? Wouldn’t it be a bit more useful to use real-time tracking? This program is better than nothing but why not do it right?

    • 2 of my kids schools already have this system in place. Everyday when my kids arrive at school we get a text and also when the bus left from school for way home.It is very helpful since many times the bus runs late for the way home and no one is in school ro speak with.
