A Lakewood resident’s parody Twitter account has New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fuming over recent posts poking fun at the far-left firebrand.
“FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on her official account Tuesday, referring to Twitter owner Elon Musk.
“It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread. I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.”
The parody account, labeled “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody),” responded minutes later, mocking the Congresswoman’s hysterical reaction.
“After brainstorming with my staff – I’m going to push Congress to make it illegal to joke, laugh, or make fun of me,” it said. “Parody should be illegal.”
Speaking exclusively with TLS, the account’s operator noted that he started the account in 2018 and that the Congresswoman has interacted with the account in the past.
“We started the account in the end of 2018 and it started blowing up in 2019, he said, adding that AOC complained about it then as well.
“I believe ultimately she was behind us getting taken down,” he added.
“We got reinstated last week and the account blew up, resulting in Elon Musk engaging with a tweet yesterday.”
By 5:45pm Tuesday, the parody account had over 153,400 followers – a gain of nearly 65,000 followers in the last 24 hours.
When someone can’t take a joke you know they are AOC…All Out Crazy! Lakewood residents have a good sense of humor.
I’m not sure I understand the AOC fuming part. I’m not a fan of hers, but how is it fuming to clarify that someone else’s statements are not hers?
If she were acting the way the account portrays her, by attempting to ban criticism, I’d agree she’s freaking out. Until then, how is it “fuming” of someone to say they’re being impersonated?

A comment isn’t a lie just because you dislike it. Elon Musk did restore Andrew Angling, Nick Fuentes, Kanye, and other anti-Semites to Twitter, all in the name of free speech.
I never claimed that Twitter didn’t have anti-Semitic content before Musk took over. One difference is that Musk is actively engaging with inflammatory content which Jack never did. So I’m not sure why a frum person would be proud of Musk engaging with their parody account.
Twitter isn’t “a haven for Nazis” any more than a loudspeaker is.
The left fully silences anyone they dislike (incl. some anti-semites who happen to be on the right) because it’s more comfortable, and they don’t respect or understand the value of free speech. It’s terrible when a few get to decide acceptable dogma, no matter how well intentioned. see Covid, Hunter Biden, etc.. Often, it’s not well intentioned at all, and then the speech police get to in turn indoctrinate the masses by blasting their preferred ideas all over and silencing all opposition. See radical gender ideology.
That’s dangerous stuff. In fact, this is how Germany was radicalized in the 30’s. They silenced thoughtful opposition and splashed their desired dogma everywhere.
As far as extremist individuals go, silencing only leads to further conspiracy and radicalization.
The American conservative values speech across the board, so rather than silence people who have extremist views, they silence dangerous posts that incite actual violence and ban individuals after repeated offences on the platform who refuse to back down. Seems sensible and safer.
