Lakewood Residents May Experience Discolored Water, Low Water Pressure, During System Flushing Process

New Jersey American Water is advising customers in Lakewood that, starting Monday, the water company will be conducting a system “flushing,” which may cause reduced pressure or discolored water.

The flushing process, which is routine and carried out regularly, is scheduled to begin Monday and through 6/15/23.

The flushing will occur between the hours of 8am and 4pm.

Flushing also allows NJAW to test and maintain fire hydrants.

If your water is discolored, run the cold water taps only, at the lowest level of the house for about 3 to 5 minutes until the water runs clear. If discolored water occurs please also refrain from doing laundry during that time.
