Lakewood recorded the lowest number of new Covid-19 cases yesterday since the pandemic reached Lakewood.
The Ocean County Health Department, which reports the number of new infections and deaths in the county each day, said that Lakewood had just two new confirmed coronavirus cases on Monday, the lowest number of new confirmed cases since March.
Sources tell TLS that, for the past several weeks, new Covid-19 cases in Lakewood have mostly come from routine testing, and that most new coronavirus patients have not had any symptoms.
Additionally, the OCHD said that the number of deaths in Lakewood attributable to Covid-19 went down. On June 12, 173 Lakewood deaths were attributed to coronavirus, today that number is down to 170. It isn’t clear why the number of Covid-related deaths went down, but it appears to be that some deaths were believed to have been from coronavirus, but were later confirmed not to have been.
Thank you Hashem!
That is great news
I just don’t understand the last number. How can the number of total deaths go down??
During the heat of things, all deaths were considered to be from covid unless it was obvious that it wasn’t. However, patients were given the test. so a few days after the patient died, the test came back & many times it was negative.
Torah is meigen. You close Yeshiva’s and Batei Medrashim=more Covid, you open up Yeshivas and Batei Medrashim=less Covid, it’s that simple.
Then how do you explain that Covid first came when the Batei Medrash and shuls were operating normally? Torah is definitely maigin. But your equations don’t add up.
The Niftarim only started once they were closed…
There were no confirmed cases in Ocean county until they closed down BMG – BTW!
Sorry to disagree, but the cases in lakewood started that sunday-monday and bmg closed wed
True – the first reported case in Lakewood was that Wednesday but I know for a fact that a neighbor of mine received his positive test on Tuesday. I myself started having symptoms on Monday. Al pi derech hateva, it was probably well entrenched in Lakewood the shabbos before.
I’ll let my uncle who died of COVID while everything was still up and running know. He should be back shortly. Thanks!
i wonder id dr richard robberts agrees with this
Hodu Lashem… I’m glad less people are getting sick however we should still be vigilant.
NYC has seen it’s lowest numbers after a long decline yesterday and today is reporting an increase in cases for the first time.
Bnei Brak was very exposed at first, then it calmed down and now schools are closing again due to the uptick.
The bottom line is we should Pray that this will not be our fate but it would be foolish to think that Bederech Hateiva the virus can’t reenter our town.
I’m personally afraid that those who are currently getting sick are not getting tested for fear of family and friends having to quarantine. Obviously a super dangerous attitude if true…
