Lakewood Township has been named one of the safest large cities in the United States, according to an analysis by MoneyGeek.
The study ranked Lakewood fifth safest in the nation among cities with populations over 100,000, citing its low levels of both violent and property crime.
Researchers calculated Lakewood’s “cost of crime” at $376 per resident – far below the national average of $3,324 for large cities.
Lakewood’s violent crime rate was measured at 156 incidents per 100,000 residents, while its property crime rate stood at 646 per 100,000. Both figures place the township well below national averages.
The rankings, which use FBI crime data and economic research, estimate the financial toll crime takes on communities, factoring in health care costs, property losses, and law enforcement expenses.
Lakewood placed just behind Ramapo, New York; Frisco, Texas; Irvine, California; and Fishers, Indiana, in the nationwide safety list.

I am sorry this is not special news for 8/22/2025. This is pure common sense. A town with lots of students all busy studying and they are studying important things as an example studying certain things that definitely benefit the entire population and as we all see, the graduates are actually in real life helping lots of people for many years to come, of course the Almighty will protect such a town.
My comment was worded in a certain way as not to hurt anyone’s feelings.
How come I don’t feel safe driving here?
Why always negative?
Not trying to negative just questioning the facts
I understand now
Guess they did not include traffic accidents
Ramapo NY is a town that includes the greater Monsey area. Monsey, New Square, Airmont, Spring Valley, Chestnut ridge, Wesley Hills and others are all technically hamlets and villages within Ramapo. That means that 2 of the 5 safest cities in the US [by this analysis] contain huge frum populations.
Vehicle altercations not included
If that’s the case, this country is in bad shape. Every other day there’s “breaking news” on The Scoop that someone was shot.
Every other day? show me 10 in the last year
I’m being sarcastic, but I hope you see what I’m saying
This is straight up fake news. Lakewood is not even the safest city in the county. NJ department of law and safety posts annual statistics per town, Lakewood is high on violent crimes compared to the reset of the county.
Good thing they didn’t add traffic into the mix!
Upon Learning That Lakewood is America’s 5th Safest City, Repeat Robbery & Assault Victim Says He’s Moving to a Different Country!
Upon learning that Lakewood, NJ is the fifth safest city in America, Lakewood resident, Oscar Michaels, who’s been mugged, robbed and assaulted multiple times in Lakewood over the last several years, told reporters: “If this town is the fifth safest city in America, I might need to move to a different country!”
Mr. Michaels, who continued chatting with reporters while readjusting the bandages he was wearing over his latest assault wounds, added, “I mean, if Lakewood is the fifth safest city in America, what chances do the the American people have of survival?!”
“Truth be told,” the serial assault victim added, “I was thinking of flying to a different country and relocating there. However, upon learning that the TSA, in 2024, seized 6,678 firearms at airport checkpoints, I decided I’d be better off locking myself up inside a secure room in my home forever, or at least until the coast is clear!”
However, longtime Lakewood burglar, Rob Andrewsman, had a different reaction upon learning that Lakewood is the fifth safest city in the US.
“I’ve been robbing homes in Lakewood for as long as I can remember,” he told reporters on Friday, “and, not once, have I ever felt threatened – during a heist or after a heist. Hence, I am clearly living proof that Lakewood is indeed one of the safest US cities to live in!”
“Let me tell you something,” the veteran burglar added, “I’m proud to be an American, but I’m even more proud to be a Lakewood resident!”
ROFL!!
lolz
If they included passing a school bus with flashing red lights as a crime Lakewood would be the most dangerous city in America.
Is that true, will all the people braking into homes constantly…? 🤔
I’m baffled! The crime to be considered is everyone driving while on there phones! How many r really legal to drive? There’s accidents every day it’s insane!
