Lakewood Rabbonim clarify Eruvin position (LETTER)

With new Eruvin being opened throughout Lakewood and beyond, Rabbonim have signed a letter clarifying their position with regards to various major roadways in Lakewood.

The one road the Rabbonim absolutely forbid an Eruv on, is Route 9.

Hagaon Rav Shlomo Miller is among those who signed the letter.

See the letter below.

  1. Uh-oh – This is gonna be a problem. Several Rabbonim were matir the Eiruv that goes across County Line Rd. So, now what do we do ?! The truth is Lakewood Rabbonim didnt assur crossing County Line rd, just that they’re not comfortable with it. So, I guess for Tzorech GAdol would be OK. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

  2. There are only a few signatures from Lakewood’s biggest poskim but that doesn’t mean that noone is matir . The chassidish Rabbonim are generally more lenient in these departments

  3. I took a personal position to be machmir on Eruvin until I had a medical condition that I was unable to walk to shul without a cane. As I was able to walk in the house without the cane, I was not allowed to use it in a Reshus Horabim. After a discussion with my Rov, we decided that it was better to use it. Obviously each eruv is different but to be against Eruvin seems to be counterproductive.

    • Changed Opinion,
This is the Psak for the Klal in general. Obviously, one can and must ask what to do in individual cases of need, for which the Psak may or may not be different.

  4. Please clarify.
Rabbi Avrohom Lefowitz shlit”a of Kollel Bnei Torah together with the son of Reb Shlomo Miller shlit”a made the eiruv crossing Couny Line road .Please clarify.

    • what do you mean? Our town leaders have been eagerly waiting for the 2020 census so that we can earn the coveted status of a city! Now you want to take that away from us??
      (Sarcasm off)

  5. There is a eiruv in the kol aryeh neighborhood with Rabbi fuerst of Chicago and Rabbi Eliyahua Levin And Rabbi Moishe Perez Schwartz shlita hascomo,,

  6. The Rabbonim on the list are the BMG Rabbonim and all live in the “Old” Lakewood. Most Shul’s in lakewood today are not affiliated iwith these Rabbonim nor does the avg Joe have access to them. It’s best to follow your local Rov.

  7. Just to clarify things a little, the Lakewood Eiruv crossing County Line is on the East and has certain advantages over the West. This is not a forum to go into the details but feel free to discuss with someone in the know. It’s a pretty fascinating topic.

  8. Reb Yechzkel Roth was in Lakewood he said he didn’t see any problem with Hope Chapel Road Eruv. Hope road curves by South Hope Chapel it is not Mefulash M’Ir L’ir
