The officer responded to the Raintree area on Friday for the reports of a loose pit bull, and upon arrival, the dog started charging at him, police say.

  1. NOW will the police start taking this pit bull issue seriously? Cuz I know what I would do if faced with a loose charging pit bull and it won’t involve leaving my vehicle…

  2. Has it occurred to anybody that maybe the dog was scared or just maybe the dog is mis treated and could be aggressive bc of how they are raising their dog.. not all pitbull are mean (all breeds can be aggressive) that’s why when people are trying to catch a dog everybody should have precaution not just walk up to it thinking it won’t attack

  3. Aww Bart- so cute when the trolls report in from their Mom’s basements. We’ll have her send you some hotpockets down.
On a more relevant comment, why wasn’t animal control the first on scene? Who calls the cops for a loose dog? Generally you would have animal control respond first then have the police as back up if the animal is vicious and/or difficult to control. Was this a call for a dangerous animal? I know Raintree has had problems with loose dogs.

  4. This happened to my kids as they waited at the bus stop for their school bus one morning. A pit bull was running loose. Big shame on the owners.

  5. To the commentator that suggested killing the dog: How dare you kill an innocent dog. They are such lovely animals. We need to understand them. This particular dog may have had a troubled youth. Let’s be forgiving. Your thinking is so old fashion. Us progressives just wouldn’t think that was.

  6. Was the officer injured by the dog or was his injury the broken foot as he was running? Not sure if I read it wrong beacuse it didn’t seem to specify.

  7. I take it from what I read the officer fell while running. No mention at that time the dog attacked him which the dog would have upon the officer falling. So im taking it the dog wasnt going to hurt the officer in the first place ?

  8. It clearly says he ran from the dog but fell and vroke his foot, so clearly the dog didnt do that too him, and if he wanted to attack him why didnt he after he fell? Oh okay. So please explain to me what exactly people are propsing we should have killed this dog for? Animal control should have been called first

  9. Wishing the officer a speedy recovery. Thanks to you and the amazing lpd that are always here and ready to protect. We honor you with pride, and pray that your injury is healed fast and easy.

  10. The officer prob tripped on the great streets we have and fell twisted his ankle during his fleeing fm this dog, thus breaking his ankle.

  11. Shooting a dog is proper protocol? Since when? He wasn’t attacking. Don’t shoot animals. It’s never necessary. Call animal control, you know the people trained to deal with them. Some of you need to rethink what you’re saying. The officer hurt himself, the dog did nothing to him so why the headline? My Pitt will continue to enjoy her freedom on OUR property.

  12. I don’t think anyone should kill the dog! Its not his fault it’s the owner ANY DOG CAN BE VIOLENT!!! ITS ALL HOW U RAISE THEM! I am a pit bull owner…. of 2 matter fact! And im tired of people turninf these dogs into horrible creatures ! they are there to protect..Just like any other dog . just like u would be protecting your self!

  13. I think if the dog wanted to attack, it would have done so when this officer fell and broke his foot. The article doesn’t say anything about any bite marks. All dogs, not just pit bulls, can become aggressive if they feel threatened. This is why having a pet is a responsibility, I wish people would think before the “you should’ve shot the dog” comments.

  14. Wait….The cop breaks his foot running and we managed to devolve the situation into pit bulls being a problem animal? Can’t we just point out that this news is non-news? Your opinions don’t matter here.
