Lakewood Police Officer Among 19 Graduates From Ocean County Police Academy

VIDEO: Moments before the verdict of Jahmell Crockam was read in Toms River, a new leaf was turned in Lakewood. Nineteen Police Officers on Thursday graduated the Ocean County Police Academy class 93, completing their six month course which began on September 8, 2011.

Among those graduating, was new Lakewood hiree Charles Messer – brother of Lakewood Police Officer Chase Messer.

Also among those graduating, were officers from Brick, Berkeley, Little Silver, Manchester, Perth Amboy and Toms River Police Departments.

The graduation, which took place at Georgian Court University’s Casino Auditorium, was attended by hundreds of family members and friends of the graduating officers as well as by several Ocean County officials.

Messer is one of the six recently hired officers in Lakewood. The other recently hired Lakewood officers, were either transfers or lay-offs from other departments.

#7 one more cop is not going to cut it. We need to be fully staffed like we were and watch how much safer lakewood can be and also watch how fast the response time becomes. LPD is doing a very good job at being understaffed but its time to hire some new strapping young lads.
