Lakewood Police Nab Car Burglary Suspect

lpd-charger-tlsA man suspected of breaking into a car last night and stealing a pocketbook, was picked up by police just blocks away.

At about 11 PM, Officer Patrick Kearns responded to the area of 5th St and Monmouth Avenue in reference to a vehicle being burglarized. Upon, arrival Kearns located a party in the area matching the description given to police by the victim.

“Further investigation by Officer Kearns, Officer Dennis Dowden, Officer Matthew Rivera and Officer Michael Delvalle determined that the party, Darryl Richardson of Lakewood, committed the vehicle burglary and recovered in his possession the victim’s identification and credit cards,” Detective Lieutenant Steve Allaire tells TLS.

Police are investigating whether the suspect is responsible for other car burglaries as well.

Richardson was charged with Burglary, Theft, and Possession of Prescription Pills and was transferred to Ocean County Jail. Bail was set at $7,500.00.
