The storm this morning put the Town’s emergency services in overdrive.

Since the start of the storm, the Lakewood Police Department responded to over 100 storm-related calls, Captain Steve Allaire told TLS.

The calls were related to flooding, alarms, disabled vehicles, hazardous road condition, accidents and more.

Chaveirim says they responded to approximately 175 calls during the storm, including dozens of calls for flooded basements.

Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer tells TLS the Department and the Water Rescue Team provided mutual aid for the Brick Police Department, assisting with the evacuation of over 100 residents during the storm.

The storm, which lasted several hours, shut multiple roads in Lakewood. Dozens of drivers who attempted to drive through deep water, became stranded and needed to be rescued.
