Earlier this month, TLS reported that the Lakewood Police Department has seen an extreme surge in gun permit and CCW applications.
In response to an inquiry by TLS, Police Chief Greg Meyer says the Department has received the most applications on record for one month – over 700 applications.
“Most applications are for pistol permits, though we’re getting many CCW applications too,” Chief Meyer says.
While they are trying to process them as quickly as possible, the applications keep coming in.
Between last week and today, the Department has approved over 200 applications, but over 100 new ones came in over the past few days, Chief Meyer says.
“Sit tight, we will get to your permit as soon as possible,” says Chief Meyer.
As earlier reported, in addition to the tips provided by LPD to assist in expediting your permit, they have also added addition hours for processing.
