The Lakewood Police Department today began cracking down on driving violations in an effort to reduce crashes.
Police Chief Greg Meyer tells TLS officers will be conducting this detail on multiple days throughout July and August.
“All we want is a safer town,” said Chief Meyer. “So buckle up, put down the phone, and drive safely.”
Today alone, numerous drivers were pulled over for driving distractions, seatbelt violations, and more.
Crackdowns aren’t fun, but I’ll take a crackdown over a lockdown – that’s for sure.
I wear little Bluetooth earbuds under my tichel. They fit under a sheitel too! Most of the “normal” people I know have no clue what Bluetooth is. They think that’s what kids get after eating ices. But they know how to text, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Every time I drive in town I’m on the verge of a panic attack and my blood pressure goes up 10 points.
Good on you, Chief Meyer.
?
Crackdowns only through July and August?. Not enough. Never Enough.
I’ll believe it when I see it.. how many tickets did LPD net on the last “enforcement crackdown”?
I’m for a crackdown on REAL driving infractions. Like the high speed zigzaggers, U turns on Cedarbridge, & people who go in the turning lane to cut the traffic & then zoom in front of the line in the last second. Somehow during these “crackdowns” I usually see them pulling over old bubbies who didnt stop all the way at a stop sign or have a broken light. no thanks for that.
(I know they are easier customers though – wont send you on a high speed chase or anything, but thats not what a crackdown should be)
I agree with “me” 100%. My thoughts exactly.
If bubbie didn’t fully stop at the stop sign, why shouldn’t she get a moving violation? After all, bubbie broke a driving law. Me & ck posses no scintilla of common sense. It’s attitudes like that make driving dangerous.
