Earlier this month, TLS reported that the Lakewood Police Department has seen an extreme surge in gun permit and CCW applications.
Police tell TLS there are hundreds of permits above the norm, but they are trying to process them as quickly as possible.
In addition to the tips provided by LPD to assist in expediting, Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer tells TLS they have added addition hours for processing.
“I would like to remind you that we have been experiencing a larger than normal firearms applications,” Chief Meyer said. “We have added extra hours for processing and are diligently getting them done.”
The surge in applications began shortly after the Simchas Torah war broke out in Eretz Yisroel.
Since the war, WeShoot has also seen a tremendous surge in sales and demand for CCW and other firearms training classes.
