Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer: Park Vehicles Off Streets Over Shabbos

As Lakewood prepares for another snow storm, Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer is urging residents to help the DPW by keeping vehicles off the roads for Shabbos.

“Be alert for plow trucks, and if possible, park off of the streets to allow for snow removal,” Chief Meyer told TLS. If need be, says Chief Meyer, residents should utilize municipal lots. This will give plow trucks more room to maneuver and to ensure the roads are better plowed.

On Motzei Shabbos, drivers are urged to stay off the roads as much as possible.

If you need to drive, “slow down and be safe,” the Chief said.

According to the latest National Weather predictions, the Lakewood area could see around five inches of snow. The storm is expected to begin around 6 PM Friday, and continue until around 8AM Shabbos morning. Temperatures Friday will drop to around 23, and Shabbos temperatures will be a high of around 36.

This is more important than illegally parking and dangerous driving in this township. So many accident that police can prevent it. There is no reason why people can’t respect the law in this township.

Mack, why so much animosity?
let’s not take for granted the non existent crime rate within the very community you are seeking to mock.

There is a town ordinance that requires snow to be removed from residential sidewalks within 24 of snow storm end and 12 hours for commercial sidewalks however so many people fail to comply.

All towns have similiar ordinances which arent followed either.

If people would keep up on it throughout the storm it would make it easier to handle and less hard work.

There is, just like there is a state law that requires snow to be removed from your vehicle (including the roof) but that gets ignored as well.
