Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer: Department on heightened alert following mass shootings

Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer today tells TLS the Department is on heightened alert – and encouraged residents to do the same – following two mass shootings that left scores dead.

“Though there are no known threats to Lakewood, anytime something like this happens anywhere, we need to be an higher alert and be extra cautious,” says Chief Meyer. “There are sometimes copycat crimes and those who pledge allegiance to the causes and attempt to carry out similar attacks.”

The Chief added, “As recent events have proven, attacks can occur anywhere at anytime with no warning. Now more than ever, residents are encouraged to say something if they see something. If you see or hear something suspicious, call us immediately. It’s our job to protect, and we have the resources to ensure the safety of this Town. Calling anyone else besides the police, for example a family member or friend, only delays the response and wastes precious time.”

“Our prayers go out to the families of those affected by the horrific crimes in both Texas and Ohio.”
