Question:
Hi Chief!
Thanks for keeping our town safe! That being said, can we do something about the Rt 88 and Clifton Ave. intersection, traveling North? Too many motorists zip up the right turning lane to, at best, cut off the motorists who are waiting patiently in the middle forward travelling lane at the last second, or to, at worst, travel straight through the intersection in a right turn only lane and to cut off whoever is in the lane to their left.
Aside from the inconsideration displayed by drivers who think their time is more precious than others’, I have seen many near accidents, as drivers with the right of way refuse to yield to these obnoxious drivers or simply don’t expect, and therefore don’t notice, them entering their lane until it’s almost too late.
If you could police to that intersection, ticket these drivers, I believe it will become a safer place.
Thank you!
A Concerned Driver
The Chief’s response:
We have placed some barrels out and will be doing enforcement actions on this issue.
Thank you

It may also help if there was a sign designating the right lane as turning before the bend. I do think some motorist are caught unaware. Also, once they are enforcing, can they enforce on the drivers who make a left after the light turns red?
