Lakewood PD Remembers LPD 270

preslarPHOTOS¬†(From last year’s ceremony)(Photos contain women). May 14, marks a very tragic day for the Lakewood Police Department. It was this day three years ago, that Officer William Preslar was killed in an early morning crash, when his cruiser wrapped around a tree, killing him instantly. The accident occurred on Lakewood New Egypt Road and Gudz Road at approximately 4:15 a.m. (Photos: From left to right : Officer Lenny Nieves Jr, Officer Cris Matloz, friend of Cris, Officer Steve Kowaleski, Officer Jose Marrero and Officer Eric Menck).

  1. Rest in Peace 270, your brothers and sisters next door have not forgotten and never will.

And the blue cloth is a symbol of the thin blue line (Police) who have sworn to protect others, and may have to give our lives in pursuit of that oath.

  2. don’t u think officer Preslar may he r.i.p. should have a proper monument instead of that eye sore?gptake a look at it, its disgusting!

  3. I was just wondering why I’ve never seen a story here about the Yartzeit of R’ Aharon Kotler ZT”L or R’ Shneur, the Mashgiach ZT”L or many other Lakewood Gedolim that are no longer with us. Maybe R’ Shaya Shimanovitz or R’ Aharon Kreiser??

  4. Officer Preslar will never be forgotten, he gave his life protecting the town of Lakewood, and the citizens of the town should should never forget that

  5. Next time people in this town want to complain about the LPD not doing there job they should stop and think about Officer Preslar. He gave his life protecting the town, he was answering a call. So next time you want to say the LPD is overpayed and they dont work hard remember that they carry guns and wear bullet proof vests for a reason at any time any officer on that force could give his/her life up protecting you

  6. I agree! It’s time a proper memorial is put there in Officer Preslar’s memory. We have some of the finest officers here in Lakewood and the people of Lakewood better wake up. They put their lives on the line everyday to protect the people of this town. When these fine people walk out the doors of their homes, they, and their families dont know if they will come back as the widow of this officer and his kids know all too well, and all to protect ungrateful people that begrudge them the pay and benefits they do deserve. Just because they take off that uniform and go home, they are still a cop and deserve every dollar and benefit they get. Those that complain would never be able to do what they do. Thank You LPD, for all you do and may there be a hedge of protection about each and everyone of you and your families, and may you return safely home to them at the end of every shift, every day.
