Lakewood Hatzolah Paramedic, Dozen Other Local ‘HEART’ Members Travel To Israel To Assist MDA

PHOTOS: Lakewood Hatzolah Paramedic Simcha Shain was among about a dozen ‘Hatzolah Emergency Ambulance Response Team’ (HEART) members to travel last night to Israel to assist MDA (Magen David Adom) as Operation Pillar of Defense continues to rock the region.

The group, ‘Alpha’, comprised of Paramedics from around the NY/NJ area, was the first of several groups of volunteers from around the world headed to the Middle East where they will spend the next several weeks assisting the Israeli medical teams.

The HEART members have been training for the last decade for scenarios such as this, where their expertise would be needed in a time of war. So when the call came in, they were ready and responded in a heart-beat, leaving their families behind – and unsure of what they will face in the war-zone.

“We are told the current unstable situation in Israel has escalated substantially and there is serious potential that this will be a rough trip”, the group’s director told the members prior to their departure. “HEART deployments have serious risk, including the loss of life Chas V’Sholom”, the team members were told”

Unlike a ‘Chizuk tour’ or a fun trip, “this is the real deal – you will likely be sleeping in your boots and clothing for days straight.”

This morning, just as Shabbos was arriving in Eretz Yisroel, rockets struck Yerushalayim. It was the first time sirens went off the city since the Gulf War. The rocket miraculously fell in an open field and nobody was injured.

Hundreds of rockets have rained down in Israel over the last threee days, killing 3 and injuring many.

May Hashem continue to watch over Eretz Yisroel, its citizens, Defense Force and those in harms way. TLS.

  1. in shemoneh esrei, shema koleinu paragraph..beginning part mentions compassion two times…..be compassionate to us …..accept with compassion…

then towards the end it says…for You hear the prayer of Your people with compassion

    ___
i always took that last mention of compassion to mean that Hashem uses HIS compassion to hear our prayers….but this morning i understood it with a different meaning..

the compassion is ours…..that Hashem hears our prayers when WE daven with compassion, …when we pray for others with a sense of compassion for those who are in need of a refuah or a yeshua, THEN Hashem will hear our prayers…

so if we have the proper kavanah in our davening and our decorum in shul reflects that kavanah, then hopefully Hashem will answer our prayers for the good of Klal Yisrael..
